Without getting too doctor-ey on you, Sadwitch, provided you didn't do too much damage to the ligaments when the patella dislocated and swelling has subsided, then with lots of gentle mobilisation and exercise before next week you might well not need crutches by the Friday...

Disclaimer: Final decision from your OWN doctor, clearly!

Don't worry I've seen a doctor, a physiotherapist twice and a specialist physiotherapist too! Today it is suddenly a lot stronger so I'm hoping for the best. It's still pretty swollen, and I think I f**ked the ligaments pretty badly from the way they were carrying on, but the swelling means there's no point scanning it for a couple of weeks apparently. I can't walk on it unaided yet but I can put weight on it and my quad is much stronger than it was. Never before has raising my extended right leg seemed like such an acheivement!

Assuming you're seeing a physio again before the fezzie, it may be worth asking them about a good quality knee support - if the swelling allows you to wear one. And hopefully you may be able to get away with one crutch - freeing up a cider drinking hand :) (I'm assuming you can drink ambidextrously )

Alternatively, get a Platypus or Camelback and decant your cider into that. We saw a guy doing that with THREE PINTS of festival strength Brother's pear cider at Glastonbury  - I get giggly after half a pint of that stuff

Good luck for making good progress in the next week :(

Platypuses (platypi?) in this context are those watercarriers that fit in a backpack and have a long tube and a teat attached

Other brands are available.... Camelback, Source, no doubt others too

Ben - little *yay* re the weather....... but just a little one for now

;) Well thank goodness for that....I was looking yesterday and three were good and one not?

So only 3 more nights of trying to pack my entire wardrobe into one tiny rucksack, now I can leave out the skiwear and pack a bikini and sunlotion?????

:D

    • First thing I saw on socials today were people talking about Limp Bizkit spending most of their set dicking about, does not surprise me.
