The Conspiracy Theory Thread

for fucks sake, how many fruitcakes does the USA have? Are they putting something in the water?

It takes a special kind of brain to go with the idea that it's unlikely that people with access to guns would shoot people but very likely that the govt would shoot kids dead for political purposes.

I wish it was limited to the US but it has gone global now, mainly thanks to Google.

I am getting a little worried about the mental health of some folk that believe in conspiracies. Below is a video a woman took of snow falling in Birmingham the other night. She posted the link on a group on Facebook and she genuinely believes she is seeing metal particles in the snow from chemtrails. Mo matter what I said she refused to accept it was just snow. I even told her how to take a sample and linked her to a site where she could get it analysed for 20 quid or so. It was then she blocked me. But she is the thin end of the wedge.

only some of them? :blink::lol:

There's of course some conspiracy theories where an absence of any info gives the space for speculation, but even with those in nearly all cases what can be speculated about is still in fruitcakeland - because if we take 9/11 as an example, if it was all done by the govt it would need a hell of a lot of people to be in on it, and it would need all of those people to keep quiet about it, and it would also need lots of those people who were in on it to agree to die for the conspiracy to work.

While all of that is theoretically possible, could such a wide conspiracy be successfully hushed up? It's beyond believable.

And finally ... if 9/11 was a govt conspiracy, it would be a govt conspiracy that the right-wing fruitcakes who love a good conspiracy theory would be approving of, and not against. Which makes the whole thing so paradoxical it's laughable.

Its completely mad. Logic and any pinch of common sense out the window.

This is the total tripe that i've seen the people I know in Texas plastering all over their facebooks at the moment. To be honest I find it sick. Some of the comments I've seen these people write on it are just unbelievable. If you really have nothing better to do with half an hour then it still isn't worth your time.

This is a good response to it, though

Some Americans really are scared shitless aren't they? Afraid they might get blown up, afraid of minority religions, afraid they can't pay their medical bills, afraid they might get their guns taken away, afraid their government are trying to kill them, afraid anyone with an opinion different to theirs is one of "them".

Really sad.

As is the relative coverage of the bombing yesterday vs shootings over the last few years and shootings in general. Not making light of yesterdays bombings but even look at the last year. 70 shot dead in mass shootings in the last 12 months. Including 20 of those poor children in Sandy Hook.

And 12,000 - thats twelve thousand - last year murdered with guns. Thats about 33 a day.

But I know, bombs being filmed makes for better news than non filmed gun murders.

What is amazing is the number of people who believe that Sandy Hook never happene. It was apparently all staged in order to further the gun control agenda. The same nut jobs are already claiming tha yesterday's explosions in Boston were faked....

Same clowns who are still banging on about 9/11 being an inside job.

And JFK. Despite no credible evidence whatsoever.

I love conspiracy theories, in a perverse kind of way. Some of the 9/11 stuff is great. There weren't really any planes, either they were holographic projections or all the footage was faked. And even if there were planes, the WTC was brought down by pre-planted explosives.

Yeah. And it was a remote control drone that hit the Pentagon. Despite the fact that a couple of hundred people clearly saw a 170ft long airliner with a 125ft wingspan and a big "American Airlines" sign painted onto the side of it descend gradually and smash into the building.

But people still think it was a small remote control drone with a bomb attached to it?!

Well obviously it was, because there was a plane-shaped hole in the Pentagon. And the eye-witnesses were all paid Government stooges. Obviously.

I think it was a false flag op by the US government so they can can invade themselves.

I'm going to Dealey Plaza in September. So excited. I'm going to walk Oswalds exact route when he fled until he was captured in the cinema.

Well I would hazard a guess that the lack of ownership to the bombing may mean it's not a large scale outfit such Al Queda.

Possibly and probably domestic and quite possibly in protest to the N Korea situation? Although what I don't get and I'm sure a reason will come out, is why it happened 3 hours after the main crowds had all gone when maximum damage could have been done? Maybe you're right abdoujaparov, false flag operation, you're a genius!

Who told you the main crowfs had gone?

140 injured would suggest otherwise.

My apologies, but an educated guess would assume that the crowd would have dispersed some compared to three hours earlier when the winner and main pack crossed the line. This is just my experience of been at marathons.

Depends on what they wanted to achieve though. "Achieve" I know!

The crowd there at the time of the explosions were fun runners, charity runners, charity workers, families waiting for their family members to cross the line. Normal everyday people.

If they wanted mass deaths they could just bomb a gig or a football game or something.

The bombs went off just after 4 hours into the marathon, about 2 hours after the winner crossed the line. Vast majority of runners would have been finishing about 3-30 - 4 from what I know of the Boston marathon (you need to set a qualifying time to enter) so I would imagine there would still have been very large crowds there.

Somebody from my running club crossed the line in 4:03. The bombs went off at 4:09!

As others have said the bulk if your amateurs will be coming through.

But my real point is this is the sort if thing Alex Jones and his ilk pick up on. He gas been questioning why bomb disposal were running drills. Now to me a large event is a perfect time. The team will be on duty anyway and it gets them all experience. However this is seen as suspicious by Jones and Infowars.

as you know, having lived there, I've been to Dealey many times. you'll really love it. A few of the Oswald landmarks are now in not particularly nice parts of the city (Oak Cliff, south dallas areas) so just take a little care, although during day time its fine. If you want any tips of other things to do in Dallas while you're there then pm me sometime.

I love Dallas. Can't wait to go back.

edit: as an open minded londoner I think they're fine. While middle class dallas folk will tell you to take your M16 with you, but they're all paranoid. saying that some areas of south dallas are *very* bad, like top 10 homicide neighbourhoods in the US bad.

There is some first class, tin foil hat wearing, lunacy on Infowars...

apparently the most likely explanation for the Boston explosions is that they were bombs planted by the Boston police bomb squad with the aim either of increasing their budget (you can imagine the conversation at bomb squad headquarters cant you - "we need a bigger budget Ed, let's go blow shit up...") or of giving Obama the pretext put the army on the streets.

it's great stuff, more entertaining than anything on the TV
