I don't know if that's aimed at me, but if so I'm not what I would call a "metal-head" fairly sure I lost the "right" to be one of them when I chose Reel Big Fish over Iron Maiden at Download 2007 (in my defence I was hammered)... plus I hate Slayer.

I keep telling people on here that I like some "Indie", but the utter disbelief that someone who likes "Indie", but hates The Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, and all the other shit at this years fest, seems to make it fall on deaf ears.

Similarly looking at other genres, I like Dizzee Rascal, but not Lethal Bizzle, I would have been pleased to see Dizzee back this year, instead we're lumped with more Bizzle.

The reason I've been so vocal about my distain for this years line-up is it seems like its been organised specifically to spite me! Seriously, it's like they've taken genres I like and picked bands I don't!

To throw in some equal oppertunity, spread genre whinging - I find Deftones dull as dish water, I though (as has been well documented) Brand New were boring in 2007 (despite liking them on record), Alexisonfire I've never "got", and I don't feel I need to give a reason for disliking Madina Lake!

I'm resigned to the fact that we're living in an 'NME era' and that people of my generation (I'm 24, by the way) who like punk/rock don't really have a festival to cater their needs. Even the Lock-up is more emo/screamo/hardcore than anything else these days.

But yaeh, this is just my opinion. I'm just upset that Leeds/Reading used to be a perfect festival for my musical taste, but it is not anymore. you can't please everyone, and this year's line-up certainly doesnt please me.

I've learnt to live with it, i've watched the line-up gradually change over the years and its come to a head this year as I can count the amount of bands I really like on one hand. Unforutnately, Leeds still remains the best festival for my music taste. And i use the words 'best' loosely, as its the best of a bad bunch.

That said, it gives me an opportunity to get on Spotify and listen to some new bands who i have never heard of and see if i like them. chances are is i'll find a few bands I do actually like. So this could be a blessing in disguise as i'm not too knowledgeable in bands breaking through at the moment.

This'll be my 9th Leeds Festival and I always have a good time. I think as long as there are a couple of bands I want to see, and my mates are going, i'll go.

Same with me. The mainstage has always catered for my musical tastes, which is punk/rock, but not this year. Appart from the exception of The Living End, but having them open the main stage when they were second headliners on the Lock-Up 2 years ago, adds insult to injury.

NME era? NME has been running since the 1950's and is at an all time low in terms of sales and influence. There are pleantly of festivals that cater for punk rock, Reading and Leeds has never been one of them, just one that features some punk bands.

I didn't know that festival existed, cheers. (that's not sacrastic 'cheers', by the way). However, still not the 'big' punk bands that i've listed above are there.

I dont want to turn this into an argument. I know times they are a changing, as Bob Dylan said, and maybe Reading/Leeds will never be the same again and that's something I'll have to get over.

I still stand by my opinion that no UK festival hosts big punk acts on a wide scale like Leeds/Reading has over the last 10 years.

If you notice, the arrangements for the days at Leeds this year are in the order for what the days usually are at Reading. Friday being the mixed day, Saturday being the Indie day and Sunday being the heavier day (plus Kaisers and KOL).

What camping festivals cater for punk rock? All my favourite bands only ever really play Leeds/Reading on the Lock-Up or main stage... Glastonbury dont, Download doesn't, V doesn't, Isle of White doesn't, T in the Park doesn't. If there's a UK camping festival which has the likes of NoFX, No Use For A Name, Bad Religion, Pennywise, MxPx, Less Than Jake, Goldfinger, Mad Caddies, Rancid, Reel Big fish, Dropkick Murphys, Millencolin, Lagwagon, Turbonegro, Bouncing Souls, Offspring, Green Day... (I could go on), i'd be very upset that I'm missing it!!!

I have seen all of the above bands at Leeds Festival. There is no other UK festival that has hosted these types of bands on a wide scale like Leeds/Reading.

Reading (and Leeds) has alway been geared toward the Indie/Alternative scenes. There have been very few "Metal" or Heavy Rock headliners over the years. I dont see why this year has been seen as the year that didnt allow for Metal, its never been a metal/punk festival it has always been aimed largely at the Alternative rock scene for instance.... crudley assembled the headliners from years past since 1990 into catagories...
