Tbh, I don't think they will ever do another hip-hop headliner (or at least for several years). It would be seen as repeating themselves. People would start talking about 'the hip-hop slot' or whatever.

Kanye West could headline, but ME wants him to headline the Other Stage (don't know if Kanye would do this though).

Eminem...hmm could have headlined a few years ago but popularity has waned quite a bit. Think 2nd on the pyramid would be more likely if they were going to book him.

Apart from that there is nobody big enough, not to headline anyway. Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre, 50 cent etc etc would all be 3rd on pyramid at best if they were to play (pretty unlikely I'd say).

Remember The Streets and Black Eyed Peas were on the Jazzworld stage and they are still reasonably popular. Dizzee Rascal, probably the most popular rapper in this country atm, was only 5th on the pyramid.

In my opinion we wont see another Hip Hop headliner at Glasto until Dizzee manages to move his way up there, nobody has taken eminem seriously since he started making RnB & Pop music and he hasnt released a respected Hip Hop album for a long time, if he was gunna headline Glasto it would have been about 5 or 6 years ago, Kanye is a possibility but iv got a feeling he isnt going to get any bigger so he mite be limited to an Other stage headliner slot, Dr Dre only really has 2 albums so i doubt he would play anywhere near that high up, there is alot of hip hop acts id love to see ar glasto though, id love to see Nas headline the Jazzworld and Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharoah Monch, Mr Lif, De la Soul, Public Enemy, MF Doom (if he actually turned up instead of sending someone else), Akrobatik and Cypress Hill would all be welcome aditions for me.

Now this is just MY opinion....

But a good few years back - saw Eminem at Milton Keynes (had his group D12, with 50 Cent and Cypress Hill in Support) and he rocked the place. He did virtually a two hour set without a break and completely owned the crowd.

He was awesome.

He would be at Glasto too. Other Stage Headliner for sure.

He would defo be as good as or better than JayZ in 08. Tho he would be a hard act to follow!

A few others tho...

Dre / Snoop / Beasties / Run DMC (can they do it without J?) / Kanye.

I like and respect hip hop, but there's a number of acts who's attitude to 'thug life', the gangster lifestyle etc. is abhorrent, and shouldn't be given an airing at Glastonbury.

That rules out Snoop and Dre. Dre pissed away the credibility he earned with NWA, when he started peddling guns, bitches and bling to middle class audiences. Eminem's early stuff is fine, although tainted by his association with Dre. Nowadays Dre seems to be coasting. The latest Eminem stuff is laughably bad.

Public Enemy would we awesome, but I don't think they're popular enough. Their 80s habit of parading around stage with (replica?) guns is probably not something the Glasto organisers would condone I suspect.

Unfortunately the responsible rap isn't the stuff that's selling at the moment, so I'm hard pushed to think of anyone who could headline. There's Kanye of course...

Beastie Boys would be un-f**king-believable on the Pyramid stage. They might be approaching golden oldie status, enough for a headliner.

Beastie Boys, Public Enemy etc etc

None of these are going to headline, the only two that realistically might do it are Kanye and Eminem, and even then if either of these get booked I suspect it will be lower than the top slot.

A better discussion should be which hip hop acts are going to play next year?

This year we had Dizzee Rascal, Q-Tip, The Streets, NERD, Black Eyed Peas and more...whos for next year?

    • I was so lucky yesterday, disappointed of course not to see Massive Attack, but gorgeous sets from Blood Orange, Caroline, Panda Bear, and Father John Misty was a real highlight. The half of Geese i saw was mint too.   I wanted to see overmono but couldnt hack it anymore.   But now, its Friday, I'm In Love
