Good grief some people on here are mega annoying!!! Neil, you are clearly an egotistical pig ignorant bloke!!! You watched 3 and a 1/2 minutes of a 2 and a 1/2 hour gig and yet you claim to have a valid opinion on the whole gig!!! How can that be possible??? You claim that all his albums are bland drivel, yet you have only listened to one of Bruce's albums!!! You cannot get more ignorant!!! You truly are the most ignorant man ever!!!

You have a go at some of us for not taking you view into account, yet you have not taken any of the pro-Springsteen views into consideration. You simply feel you are correct because you have asked "around 100 people" their opinion. Sorry but I don't think 100 peoples opinions out of 80,000+ people can be taken as the over riding view of the majority can it?

there is a forum called digital spy i am sure most here have seen that and there used to be a well known poster there called mr blond who used to wind up the forum by always going against the other posters

usually in big brother ok ok i know but i do watch he used to support the vilest housemate and say weird things as a joke

i am starting to think neil is doing the same or he spent too muh time at the stone circles while drinking meths

anyway i find it all funny and at least it has given me something to read this afternoon

oh do grow up, eh?

I'd have made just the one post here, if morons hadn't started trying to tell me my opinion was wrong, that there was no way that 100 people had found Bruce to be crap, and all the other brain-dead moronic comments coming from the likes of you, who simply can't believe that some others find Bruce to be the most boring and bland act yet to hit this planet.

Yet even those brain dead morons admit "Working on..." to be shite. So really, where am I going wrong? You know he's shite, I know he's shite .... but it seems that it's just not allowed to be said. :D

now if he says florence and the machine had the best voice in history i know something is up

no, that would only mean that my standards have fallen to Bruce-fan type levels. :D

Just because it's your board, there is no need to call people morons for trying to argue passionately for what they like when they haven't been offensive in the slightest...

Really? Not offensive?

I find it quite offensive to be told that the honest opinions I garnered from people there are made up. I find it quite offensive to be told that I've made it up about Bruce being bland (yet even his own fans admit his latest album is bland shite).

The offensive ones are those who won't accept the idea that a huge number of people thought Bruce was bland crap, and that their Bruce adoring opinions are more valid than any others. :D

I'm not sure that leaving having judged an entire set on an acoustic version of somebody else's song is what most would class 'an open mind'. If I'd have left at that point I would almost certainly have agreed with you.

If that was all I heard, you might have a pioint. But like so many of the Bruce fans posting here, you prefer to fantasise about things than accept the trruth. :D

Mind you, it only took a further half song for me to recognise bland as a Bruce constant, off the back of the many albums of his I've heard over very many years.

You seem to be fairly intolerant and confrontational. I'm not sure that it is a particularly good advertisement for your website.

It'S not intolerant or confrontational to [post an honest opinion, which is all I've done.

What has been the intolerant and confrontational here are the responses to that honest opinion from the Bruce-farts-perfume morons. :D

Says the egotistical pig ignorant moron that claimed I'd made up the opinions of those I asked about Bruce. :D .... really, do grow up, eh?

Where have I claimed to have an opinion of the whole gig?? I stated very clearly how long I stayed, and have stated only my opinion of what I heard. However, knowing a fair chunk of Bruce's output, i know it wouldn't have been any more enjoyable for me if I'd stayed.

What I have said is that everyone I asked - bar one huge Bruce fan - only had negative things to say about Bruce. It's true. Get over it.

Care to show me where I've even remotely suggested that the majority thought Bruce was shit? :D

Stop making up complete and utter bollox to try and defend your hero.

Lots of people thought Bruce was shit. Get over it.

From what I saw of the set (not a whole lot I have to admit) it seemed to be a good fun, and Springsteen to putting a decent amount of effort into the performance

BUT

Had it been anything more than decent then I'm pretty sure people would have been calling it the greatest performance ever. Why? Because he has some HARDCORE fans. The types that worship him and would really exaggerate an average performance. Thus had it actually been good then everyone would have been calling it the greatest thing ever. Since hardly anyone is, then it confirms my own thoughts. Which were that it was a decent performance, but nothing special.

Neil Young was much, much better in my opinion, and the one song I saw of Blur looked better too.

Oh, and a performer is only as good as his songs. Bruce Springsteen doesn't really have any 'wow' songs like Rockin In The Free World, A Day In The Life, Song 2, The Universal etc etc. He has Born To Run, but I saw that and there didn't seem to be any amazing crowd reaction to it.

The funny thing is, you have this belief that your opinion is worth more than others!

No, I have the opinion that my opinion is valid, nowt more.

You also seem very confrontational, why?

It's the morons like you are trying to pretend any opinion that wasn't glowing of Bruce is not valid. You even stated I'd made up what others said FFS.

As a result of the moronic posts from the likes of you, I've defended my opinion. If you don't act the prick, we don't get here.

And why do you always, every time some one disagrees with you, resort to personal insult?

It's not the disagreeing. It's the being told I'm not allowed to disagree - by morons like you.

If you were able to act your age and not your shoe size, we wouldn't be here.

I know i got personal earlier when I called you egotistic and ignorant, but this has bee shown to be true! You seem an aggressive and nasty person at times, especially when people dont agree with you!

Do f**k off, eh? I have an opinion. Get used to it, and grow up.

I dn't accpet WOD to be bland shite, its his weakest but still good imo. And show me these huge numbers of people, sorry but 100 people you asked isn't huge out of crowd of 80,000+ people is it???

if that's good, I'd very much hate tro hear what you think to be great.

Oh, I did on Saturday, so left and went and saw something much more enjoyable.

Oh dear, someone didn't like your hero. Never mind, I'm sure you'll live. ;)

No, 100 hundred people is not a huge number. Care to tellk me where I claimed to have carried out a scientific survey? ;)

However, 100 random people thinking Bruce very bland, against just one (in my little survey) thinking him excellent. That says to me that a huge number thought him crap, via that proportionality.

As for the 80,000 .... that was 80,000 at the start. Were there still 80,000 watching at the end? Nope. Why did they leave if they all thought it the most fantastic act ever at Glastonbury?

Perhaps they were all at the bar? Perhaps they were all having a slash? :D

Now will you please get off your high horse, give yourself a slap and realise you aren't as great as you think you are?

says the man on his high horse, demanding that no one dare say anything Bruce-negative. :D:lol:

You've listened to many of his albums and even decided to buy the most recent one. For a none-more-bland artist that you don't like. If I'd listened to many albums of an artist I didn't like I certainly wouldn't be going out to buy their latest one.

well, funnily enough, I guess that's the open minded person I am. :D

I'm prepared to give anyone a chance. I hadn't heard a Bruce album for maybe 15 years, so I thought I'd check out the one he's on tour promoting and so likely to play a chunk of at the festival I'm going to that he's playing at.

I know now - thanks to the comments of people like you - that I've got it all wrong. I should have stuck with my previous opinions of Bruce and not gone to see them. Then you could have indulged in your Bruce-love-in without the nuisance of people like me spoiling it by posting an honest opinion.

Oh well. :D

I think that calling people morons is extremely intolerant. I'm not sure where I have insulted you anywhere along the line. Yet apparently I, along with many others are being lumped into convenient pigeon-holes.

if you haven't been one of the morons, then it's not aimed at you. The morons are the types trying to pretend I've made up the many poor opinions of Bruce I heard, or that it's simply not possible for people to not like him and think him extremely bland. You must have seen those moronic comments, and you'd be a moron if you didn't think those people to be morons.

And adding an emoticon to an insult doesn't automatically make it in anyway charming or less offensive. If I had been one of the lucky people involved in your Saturday night straw-poll would you have called me a moron then? If not, then why is it alright to do so just because it's online?

I'd have called you a moron if you'd have done what some people have hear (see above), and for no other reason.

You're allowed to think Bruce farts perfume if you like - I really don't care if you do. ;)

You're just not allowed to tell me (as some have here) that I have to think he farts perfume too. Some people saw Bruce and were very far from impressed. It's true. Live with it.

So if the Saturday night headliner was so poor and so bland, why does this site's overview of the festival claim that 'this years festival will be hard to beat'? Surely all they need to do to top this year is to book a decent headliner for the Saturday next year? Of course it may just be that Neil is talking complete bollocks. I'm not a massive Springsteen fan by any means but no objective rock fan could deny it was a fine performance by an artist giving it 100%.

he drew one of the biggest crowds ever seen at glastonbury

nah he defo didn't.

He wouldn't have even had the biggest crowd* on the Pyamid this year if Rolf had played on that stage.

(* although it seems to be the case from other people's posts that Bruce didn't even have the biggest crowd this year without Rolf playing the pyramid).

eFestivals, you're criticising everyone for demanding everyone should like Bruce, yet simultaneously saying that "You know a crap act if you see one" and he's "the blandest act to hit the planet" and "we all know it". What a hypocrite!

Don't care if this is your website, but if you met only one who liked him (which if you actually asked over 100 people is just pure bollocks) it is a bit of a statistical fluke.

For the record, I loved him and want to watch his WHOLE set again (any hep would be appreciated) and so did many others. I also met a few who felt slighty dissapointed and some who thought playing 2 1/2 hours was too long (which whilst I don't see how a headliner could play for too long I respect).

Bruce is a marmite act and you have the right to dislike him as we do the right to love him. However, but saying he didn't put everything into and Neil Young did it is pure wrong. Bruce played until 12.40 am, almost an hour more than Young. Both had their lovers and their haters, just because you own this website doesn't mean you can belittle those who don't agree with you.

his set is the most popular on the bbc I player so that tells you something

it tells you that some Brucer fans will watch it again and again and again and again and again.

OK, it doesn't tell you that for certain, but likewise it doesn't prove him to be popular to huge numbers of people, just that the stream has been streamed lots. Got it? :D

also i would say of 90 percent of the twitter posts press reviews and other forums are positive

do publications send a know-nothing to write a review? Or is it far more likely to a be a fan?

but i dont really care about some opinions i know what his music has meant to me my entire life and nobody can take that away

Sorry, but now I'm going to call you a sad f**ker. :D;)

I have music I like as much as the most dedicated Springsteen fan might like Springsteen, but does it really mean much to me within my whole life experience? Nope.

Neil, did you take some weird drug at Glasto, and sort or regress back to your childhood or something similar...?

has anyone said they think he farts perfume..... think I missed it

Has anyone used those words? Nope.

Have some suggested that it would be impossible for anyone not to like it? Yes.

And so for some, Bruce farts perfume. If someone is so stupid to think that it's impossible for lots not to like it (which someone has posted) - yet this thread proves that many didn't - then those types would have been cheering if Bruce's set had followed a dinner of baked beans for him and the performance had been only of him with a microphone taped to his arse.
