Special Guest Slot Roundup

I have a theory 'special guests' are probably bands currently flogging tickets to upcoming tours that haven't sold out?

Commercially the managements don't want to make a fuss about a bands glasto appearance if people may take the attitude 'why buy tickets to the tour when we can see them at glasto' - However a secret appearance is a headline grabber (a la franz ferdinand)

Now as it happens U2 tickets are still for sale I believe for Cardiff show???

The Park stage has now more capacity as turned facing the hill

Saturday Park slot will be clashing with some big acts (therefore less likely to see HUGE crowd)

Unlikely but possible??

Absolute guess work here, no inside information whatsover but working on the "we could have a real health and safety issue" comment and the bands playing how about for one of the special guest slots on Park on Friday...

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young :D

CSN having nothing scheduled in the run up to Glasto, whereas NY's playing Hyde Park on the Saturday so couldn't do anything during their set. I'm not a fan of either so don't know if there's even the remotest chance of it happening (was it an acrimonious split??!!)

The earlier slot would give Mr Young time to recover before his Pyramid slot as well.

Just a total guess (personally I'd love it to be Pixies) but there's a logic to it you've got to admit!!

Well the Dead Weather are playing aren't they, so assumed they were the second Friday one?

Could be "biggest band in world" due to the White Stripes, Racontuers, Queens of Stone Age and The Kills influences through?

Could Seasick Steve be a possibility? He is playing with Neil Young and the Fleet Foxes on the Saturday at Hyde park and i also saw an interview a couple of months ago and he stated he was playing Glastonbury. He played on the main stage last year and drew a big crowd so it is a possibility?

Just been reading up on the special guests so currently have the following spots

Fri- 1x Pyramid, 2x The Park

Sat- 1x Park

But I think what could be crucial in the way people are working out is that there's Sat one in the Queens' Head aswell.

Everyone seems certain that Klaxons are there on the Sat (can't be Fri as they are supporting Blur), but could it be they are in Queen's Head rather than the Park stage?

We know that the

Hot Rats- First Friday slot

The Dead Weather are there

N.E.R.D. are there

Klaxons are expected to be another (but could be misleading with people assuming they are on the Park?)

Potentially Kanye on the Friday if you see the other thread(if you believe the other thread).

Apparently Steve Lamaq confirmed on his show the other day, but didn't say which day.

It's not gospel but this soon to the event, it's a good bet they will be I'd say. Plus Jack White loves Glasto and is in the country at the right times.

I'm just hoping it is The Dead Weather only on Friday second slot, as if the big surprise happened to be The White Stripes playing there on the Saturday I'd be in two minds between them and the Boss but probably have to sacrifice, as you'd guess they'd play again whereas the Boss won't.

Someone texted me and said Muse will play over the weekend. Not even in a special guest spot they'll just turn up at The Park so there's no huge crowds. He's usualy good at this sort of thing. I'm looking to see if there's any Muse type anagram somewhere. :P
