Quechua 2 seconds

they are perfect for festivals i had one for a few years and it lasted me loads of festivals including glastonbury 2007 where it rained non stop for 5 days and it didn't let a drop in.

it finally went to the big campsite in the sky as the zip broke on the door and i upgraded to a 3 man model

i really don't understand these people saying it is awkward to put away and to carry it takes about 10 seconds to fold it away slip the elastic over and slide it into it's bag and then you jusr sling it on your back with the shoulder straps or carry it by it's handle it really is a piece of piss and no bother at all.

The only problem i have with mine is the size and shape when folded away, dont think this is a problem for the smaller ones & Base, but mines an XL and annoyingly just slightly too big for my boots (Audi A3/Astra sri) so has to be put in the back with passengers, which must be a bit annoying on the drive all the way down from Leeds.

I am going to go for a pop up tent this year...

weight regulations on flights are beyond a joke these days so i have to keep the weight down.

This seems to be the best one i have found.. plenty of porch space, and i think its a bit bigger than most. down side is the cost but i'll get plenty of use out of it. vango are a great make as well

1.85 High and 5.40 x 2.30 space. (84 x 15cm when folded away)

If i had never tried the Quecha brand id have gone for the Vango straight away, but since ive probably done 20+ camping trips in my Quechua air tent, im gunna go for the base for its sheer size, reliability and ease.

I do like that Vango though!

Obviously you can't put it on your back with a pack on, and you need a small disc size (smaller than either of my two) to be able to carry by the handle without having to lift it to clear the ground.

I do find them irritating to carry in festival mode. No other criticisms though.

I just hang it off a strap on my backpack. Works fine - although getting over to mmy mate's house to leave for the festival I took a few bus's wing mirrors with me!

On the Monday when everyone packs up, lazy people tend to leave stuff behind. To my delight I stumbled upon a Quechua 2 second air 3 man tent, it was in a heap as someone had clearly tried to fold it up and got pissed off leaving a mint tent with its bag and tent pegs all in pristine condition! It took me about 15 min's to work out how to fold it. Once I realised how it's so easy! I was delighted! Then a bit farther down the hill I found 3 slabs of stella, thats right 72 cans left beside a bin; happy days.

I used the tent at oxegen festival two weeks later and it really is so handy, I recommend buying one

my vango swift arrived on friday..

not 100% sold on it yet as i couldnt get the fecker down properly but hen i was never very good with other types of pop ups.. i think its just going to take practice. the instuctions on the bag are very vague.

apart from that i was pretty amazed by it. for a pop up its pretty damn big and the porch area is big enough to put a couple of small stools in and look out, which is great if the wether is bad.

i think the swift also had the best waterproofing.

if i could figure out how to fold it up i'd give it 10/10!

If you're looking for a quick erecting tent, I've a Khyam Freelander. Goes up in 20 seconds and is a proper tent... porch, poles, double skinned, etc etc.... :-)

Quechua Base is bigger, and quite a bit cheaper than the freelander.

Put mine up at the weekend, took me about an hour to grasp how to take it down! but once you get the knack, it takes 2 minutes tops

We use a Base Full and a XL 3 man pop-up. They are brilliant. Fully camped in 5 mins flat on Wednesday ready for the cider. Fully uncamped on Monday morning in about 15 mins. The base is a bit heavy but we use a sack truck to haul our stuff in so easy really. Also the carrybag has straps on it so you can carry it like a rucksack.

The only thing with using this set-up is at night when in bed you are separate from the base so would not know if an intruder comes into your base at night. This happened to us last year but luckily I had just gone into it to get something when it happened. This year I had the idea of putting little bells on the inside zips so you know if it is your tents zip being pulled open.

Rather than get the Base 4.2, have you considered getting another Base Seconds (Full or Standard) with the bedroom compartment? That way, you have connected living space, and (almost) standing height in the bedroom? With also the great benefit of lots of ventilation in the bedroom space, if you want to snooze in the afternoon.
