Blur Confirmed on BBC

YES!!!!! Oh, it will be an emotional one.

They used to close with 'This Is A Low' quite a lot in the early-ish days, like around '94, but then they started closing with 'The Universal' and then 'Song 2' came along, so they started closing with that or 'The Universal', but I reckon they may revert back to their old ways, not that I really care too much, it's gonna be special whatever they play.

But I want 'The Universal' as Reading 2003 would have intended it, just with the addititon of Coxon, obvs:

I don't know if you're joking or not, but Blur have a song called 'Sing' too, appears on their first album and the Trainspotting Soundtrack.

I'm presuming that they're going to get Phil Daniels to do Phil Daniels' bits for Hyde Park at least, if not Glastonbury then Damon will do them, as he did back in the day, they couldn't get Phil Daniels to come to every one of their gigs, he did the big ones/the ones in London generally.

I'm trying and failing to pick 5 songs, 5 favourite albums would even be tough, so I've craftily left out the hits, taking them as givens:

'Death Of A Party'

'Look Inside America'

'Advert'

'Starshaped'

'Trouble In The Message Centre'

.... off the top of my head, will be re-drafted SEVERAL times.

How much of Think Tank do you recon they will play? Coxham wasn't really involved with that album so will it get much space in their setlist? Would love to them to play Out of Time, We've Got A File On You and Good Song

Graham did guitar on Battery in Your Leg from Think Tank, so that might be a go...but other than that I'd doubt they'd play anything from it, unless Graham felt strongly otherwise. It's not like they are hurting for material without it.

Yeah, the "lalala" parts would be absolutely great. So many of their songs are going to make excellent singalongs, I can not wait!

I thought Think Tank was mega, it was just different to anything Blur had done before. Although I know many did not like it, maybe because of the different sound.

Adore 'good song' I doubt it will get played, but such a beautiful song

Also be great if they slid in "We've Got a File on You", what harm could it do, all 2 minutes of it ;)

Grams told me that if the rest of the band are game, for Hyde Park, he wants to do 'Battery In Your Leg' and 'Out Of Time', may be the same for Glasto, but bearing in mind this is before Damon has had his say......

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
