The Libertines

it would depend though. i think the band make some brilliant music and have the potential to be an excellent live band, unfortunately they are also capable of being a complete train wreck. I'd be very sceptical before watching them again about which Libertines we'd get.

If that drug addicted spooge monkey headlined the greatest festival on earth it would be a f**king travesty. Not a hope in hell that they are good enough or ever were, and just because there stock may have risedn since they broke up and doherty has become tabloid fodder, can u see them having any kind of idea of how to command a main stage at night!!!

Did anyone else think that Mr Doherty is living in a bit of a dream world

he does start to go on about energy levels and said that Carl told him that he may steel his off him"

Im going to say that it was never even close. Somebody probably mentioned Leeds to him and Pete (or even NME) have blown it up to make it look like they got a offer.

Dont really believe it for one second

Off the wall thought here...

Maybe they are the 4th headliner for glasto. Something they wont be paid much money for. And they just want to over inflate the fact that they turned down a lot of money because they arent doing a reformation like other bands are.

Just a thought...

Its funny how when people dont like a band they massively underestimate their place on the bill. 4th headliners in glasto, are you seious?? IM not a huge fan, own both albums but rarely listen. If they played readiong/leeds they would only headline due to the buzz of them reforming. At glasto they would also likely headline, second at the lowest. A new libertines album would be huge. People talk about blink 182 headlining well if they both released an album the same date it would be the libertines who sold the most. They are darlings of the nme generation many who end up at the festival. People shouldnt let their dlslike of pete doherty hide the fact that he is still a very big draw.

Its even funnier that when a people love a band how much they overestimate them

When libertines last played they was 3rd from the top - which was around the time they split

Babyshambles have headlined the 2nd stage and 2nd top from the top 2 years before.

cant see how they can go from that to headlining when theyve been disbanded all this time, I dont think the fact of a reformation will bring in the masses, at the end of the day Pete Doherty is the draw not Libertnes, a libertines reformation would even be big big news (on the scale of some of the reformed bands) let alone worth giving them a headline spot

    • 1. Baby Dave - Billy 2. A - Prang   Not really got round to listening to many more in May so not really fair to vote but shoutout to EPs from Bleech 9:3 - Bleech 9:3 & Villanelle - Measly Means
    • Guitarricadelafuente was bloody brilliant tonight. This is going to be a very Spanish focussed year for me. Rusowsky dragging out Las Ketchup on Saturday has the potential to be a Prima magic moment.
    • £112 for standard entry. No thank you.
    • Meanwhile Gracie Abrams is £92 for the cheapest with the average price around £160 for lower tier and £103 standing.   First time in a while I've gone from a definite yes to a definite no on price alone.   Amble was £31 this morning.
