Yesterday on Netweather at least one regular poster, an experienced forecaster, was predicting no more than a 10% chance of showers late next week, that Met Office update looks like an upgrade to that unfortunately.

You know what? One year, just one year, I'd like a CERTAIN warm sunny scorcher confidently and unchangingly and reliably predicted for the entire of Glastonbury week.

I know the forecast remains pretty damned good in general, especially for the start, so I shouldn't moan because we're certainly not in for a 2007. But we're OWED a unbrokenly dry sunny and good one throughout, and I'm fearful of the risk of further downgrades in later updates ...

06z might be an outlier (still looks quite like one for now) but on the other hand it might be picking up on a new trend

I have one more day, tomorrow morning (Friday) to gather updates. We're off to Glastonbury town on Saturday and onsite from Monday as early-arrival Info Crew (our tickets arrived this morning :D ).

After Saturday, I'm reliant on paolo999's gadgetsery for updates ... ;)

good post from north sea snow on netweather regarding the 06z

The GFS always becomes progressive as it enters the lower resolution part of the model, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the sudden changes in pattern that often occur after t180. These can be indicative of possible trends - but these are often over exaggerated and nearer the time they either dont materialise at all or they are watered down. Rarely, they will upgrade in intensity - but at this stage I wouldn't take much notice.

I think that a trend towards falling pressure eventually towards the souuth and south west is entirely possible - but that doesn't mean in any shape or form that it will go from blue skies to washout in the blink of an eye

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
