Ah of course - the correct rumours thread! I'd been posting all the latest rumours in 'Next announcement' purely because it was nearer the top <_<

Well, to summarise, the latest s/c are:

Black Spiders

Sacred Mother Tongue

And latest rumours:

Heaven's Basement, Mastodon, Daughtry, Gama Bomb, Cynic, Valient Thorr, and as mentioned above, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes.

If they all got announced in the next announcement, I'd be really happy.

I felt the same about Mastodon as a lot of you do, until I heard Crack The Skye, and my eyes were opened. They are f**king awesome - and if you cant spare an hour or two to listen to crack the skye once or twice - you are missing out. Trust me - I thought they were shite 6 months ago.

i SERIOUSLY need to get 'Crack The Skye', but have to resist buying it till the end of the month, already bought a fair few too many albums since payday the other week! damn drunk & itunes combination!!!

i've got 'Remission' and 'Blood Mountain' and have to admit i prefer the former, but i wanna see what the fuss is about on this new one.

live tho... not up to what i hoped. saw them supporting Tool and then at Download '07, and while they were far from bad, they by no means rocked my world. but still, i'd watch them again, and if they don't announce any other European dates over the Download weekend following the uk tour, i wouldn't be surprised to see them there...

Mastodon are awesome, without a doubt. I wasn't keen on them at first - 1st song I heard by them was 'Workhorse', which probably wasn't a good place to start. But then I heard a little bit of 'Leviathan' in a record shop before seeing them support Slipknot + Slayer. The 20 minutes they got were phenomenal. I was blown away in the first 30 seconds. Got 'Leviathan' the next day, listened to it start to finish and was awestruck further still.

Seen them on their own tour and twice at Download since them, brilliant every time - but definitely better in the smaller venue.

Provided no awkward clashes - and providing they are confirmed, of course - I'd definitely go see them a fifth time.

Daughtry are no longer rumoured - according to the official forums, it seems the thread touting them as a rumour has been deleted and subsequently labelled 'a fake'.

Rise To Remain are the latest self-confirm.

A guy I used to work with drums for a band called The Defiled (supported Opeth and Deathstars recently) and apparently thay've been offered the chance to play Download and plan on accepting. <_<

I'm clearly clutching at straws for new rumours now!

A band called New Device (signed to Classic Rock magazine's Powerage label) are supporting Steadlur on June 9th in London. Possible rumour for 3rd or 4th stage, perhaps.

Those Dinosaur Jr. dates are interesting. I remember when they played in 2005 on the Main Stage though. Practically all but about a couple of thousand people stuck around for them so they could all go watch My Chemical Romance instead. What a travesty. They all missed out on a quality set.

Moving swiftly on...

Soulfly have just confirmed two UK dates in Brighton and London on June 15th and 16th respectively. That is all.

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
