  1. You've seen the rest of the line up right? And last year's? And every prior year's? Not sure this stacks up.......
  2. 12 Weeks! I'd better start trying to lose my winter fat stores and up my fitness then!
  3. You'll be able to get them on the gate. They never sell out.
  4. I reckon all the complainants will cough up anyway. There was lots of moaning last year to be fair and some people suggested a name drop/area drop before the window closed might encourage punters to pay the balance. In the end - not needed.
  5. Eventim are a huge, wealthy and quite slick business. I'd see this as a positive for See's capabilities rather than anything else.
  6. I think the individual stage posters will start some time next week after the balance window closes. If I had to guess, I'd go 12th April.
  7. All valid comments - Yes, we have high expectations every year. Yes, we underestimate the festival's appeal to artists. Yes, we forget that Glasto's purse strings are tighter than most commercial festivals. Yes, they can't book everyone who is active every June. HOWEVER. The fact that they haven't secured Chaka Khan's signature this year is a travesty of epic proportions. She's touring, over here, is a global legend who is unlikely to do it again, has GSH like the Grand Canyon, black, female, has a back catalogue of tunes you would not believe. On the dartboard of who should be at Glasto 2024, she is the bullseye. If they pulled out the stops and she wouldn't sign then fair enough, but I'm gutted.
  8. Heilung are a definite for me now. The YouTube vids of them live has really sold it. Like The Hu last year, it's so far outside anything I've ever seen. Black Pumas clearly popular and rightly so. Some strong similarities with Alabama Shakes/Brittany Howard, although I agree her latest album isn't a patch on the earlier one.
  9. Yup. Paid mine & Mrs 4am’s balance first thing before I even got out of bed. Roll on June. 🕺🕺🕺
  10. I had the same issue. In combination with the f**k awful weather, it was turgid.
  11. That was my 4th Hives gig and they are always turned up to 11. You’ll f**king love it. The tracks from the new album come across great live too. I’m a broken man today but it was worth it.
  12. The Hives were on brilliant form in Nottingham tonight. Great setlist, top drawer drumskin tight musical performance and all the crowd interaction and banter you’d expect from Pelle. Still one of the best live acts out there. Support act (Bad Nerves) are good too, like a Strokes/upbeat Ramones vibe. My neck hurts, my feet hurt and I’ve lost my voice. 10/10.
  13. Pink Eye who fronts Holy f**k sang a full song with his c*ck and balls out in the John Peel in 2010. No drama at all about that.
  14. I’d heard a similar apocryphal story to this, that they’d had a guitarist and a more generic indie sound to start with. Only when he left and they put the piano/keys front and centre did they gain any traction in the industry and then got the record deal.
  15. Will do. But they’re always good value live. This will be my 4th time. Howling Pelle’s schtich never changes but always entertains. He’s top 5 in the Premier League of frontmen/women.
  16. It's here now. Will be paying mine & Mrs 4am's balance at 9:01am on 1st April.
  17. Seeing The Hives at Nottingham Rock City on Friday. Really looking forward to it. If you see a 50 year old man in the pit, who looks like he should know better but is going batshit, that's probably me.

What the f**k does that have to do with it? It happens everywhere, all the time, is pointless and anti-social. You pillock. Exactly.

Isn't it. Just live in the moment FFS. Your social media likes mean jack sh*t.
  20. My two-penneth is that this is a combo of things. Festival is under financial pressure, which shows in a degree of cutting back. Most of us regular posters on here have been going for years so are maybe slightly jaded, with familiarity breeding contempt. We need bigger highs every year to get excited and aren't going to get them. There's nothing objectively wrong with the line up. There's nothing wrong with any of the rumoured changes. It's our expectations, fuelled by memories and nostalgia, that have misled us. That said, if Arcadia get the new installation working and it's f**king great, the SE Corner has some updates and Genosys returns, we'll all love it and be raving about it afterwards.
  21. Completely understand this, however from the poster drop, self confirms and strong rumours I've been doing my usual trawl via my streaming service of choice and have already discovered 3 acts new to me who I'm really excited to see. Before you throw it back in the pot, I'd recommend doing a deeper dive into the names you don't know.
  22. In the theme of world beating female vocal performances, can I please nominate this?
  23. Love that mini doc. Hadn't heard of her until the poster drop. Love her work. 70's psychedelic soul/jazz is very much in my wheelhouse. Can't wait to see her at Glasto.
