  1. Well, if they are promising it I'm sure it will happen, after all, no political party has ever gone back on an election promise have they?
  2. Just Stop Oil - "Ordinary people demanding the UK Government immediately halt all new oil and gas consents and licences." But they are not ordinary people, they are one-issue fanatics, more a cult than a political movement. "the urgent change we need to survive" melodramatic exaggeration, I would have more sympathy if it was CND, nuclear weapons do pose a real survival threat. The guy in the video is right, if they have a legitimate argument make it, and lobby properly, maybe the reason politicians haven't done what they are demanding is that it is just not realistic, at least in the short term.

    Other Festivals

It may be the expected answer but it 's not true. There are other festivals with a similar vibe and atmosphere, albeit not on the same scale. Bearded Theory is an obvious one, I would argue Beautiful Days too. Not been to Shambala or Boomtown but I suspect there are people on here who would recommend those too.
  4. They turned half the PA off at the end, just one stack working, thought it was a technical problem at the time but they must have done it to reduce the volume, and before Colorblindjames jumps in and sees this as proof female artists get worse treatment I've also seen Primal Scream have the power switched off and kicked off stage for over running on the pyramid.
  5. A bit of both I expect, he does make a couple of reasonable points though, "This is the music industry folks. Artists often misbehave.", true, and since Lana has some form in this regard her tour manager should be on top of things and not give her any reason to carry on, she needs a tour manager who can read her the riot act if need be. Totally unprofessional way to behave. She's been in the business long enough and has played Glastonbury and plenty of other festivals before so she's no excuses. "Her performance and staging was fab. A beautiful, messy performance.", quite, after reading this thread I wanted to hate her but I've just watched it and it was terrific, all the more irritating that we are now discussing the set for the wrong reasons. "First of all she should have headlined the pyramid anyway instead of the cock rock we got all weekend." If she was anywhere near being a pyramid headliner she would have been on there, the festival are desperate to get female headliners, the fact is she is not yet at that level. Anyway to add a bit of positivity to this thread, the BBC are putting out the audio on 6 Music and it will then be on Iplayer. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001n9c0 And for those that want to watch, there is video available, looks like it won't be on Iplayer but you can get it here, https://www.mediafire.com/file/tilcy8uyqp68yij/LDR_Glastonbury_24062023.mkv/file Nothing to do with me BTW but it works.
  6. Yes, turns out I'm wrong about Glastonbury at least, these are your typical cleaners there, https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/newlyweds-spend-honeymoon-cleaning-glastonbury-8542059 I'm at a festival this weekend, I'll do a bit of racial profiling and report back.
  7. Then we have different experiences, I go to a lot of festivals and it is noticeable how many black people are employed as toilet cleaners, at Bearded Theory a few weeks ago all the toilet cleaners were black women (I'm not talking about the contractors who empty them), Don't think they were Interpol fans so I suspect they were getting paid. Same applies at Glasto, I'm sure there are a few volunteers but most are paid outside workers. Not trying to stir up trouble just stating facts.
  8. It's amazing how invisible the "darkies" are at Glastonbury, don't people ever notice that the majority of toilet cleaners, for example, are from ethnic minorities or is that too uncomfortable a fact for the mostly middle class white attendees? Maybe the immigration people are looking out for illegal workers not punters. (not saying I agree with them monitoring the station).
  9. "There should be no borders in daily life, including music festivals." What do they think the superfence is? They live in a fantasy world where everyone can go anywhere and live the life they want.
  10. https://www.dounetherabbithole.co.uk/blog/doune-the-rabbit-hole-cancelled A long statement pretty much blaming the BECTU posts for their problems, the fact is their current business model of paying off old debts accrued by putting on unprofitable festivals by raising excess profits on future festivals was never going to work, if it is that easy to run a profitable festival why weren't they doing it before? It was pretty much a ponzi scheme. Can't blame BECTU for seeing it for what it was.
  11. Ticket link on main website is dead, what is TfG? Suspect there is very little chance this festival will happen.
  12. Isn't it time the festival issued an apology for giving Corbyn a slot on the pyramid stage? Surely giving a notorious anti-semite a platform deserves an explanation. (or maybe he is isn't quite what he is being accused of).
  13. Missed out on tickets for the first time this year but not letting that bother me, there are other festivals, going to Stone Valley North this coming weekend, good lineup for me and pretty cheap, not been before so looking forward to it. https://www.stonevalleyfestival.co.uk/stone-valley-north-line-ups/ Main stages finish at 11pm so can retire to the campervan and watch Glasto on tv if there's not much to do later on.
  14. Marianna is an interesting "journalist" https://thegrayzone.com/2023/06/01/bbc-specialist-disinformation/
  15. A sad read, but the testimony of a grieving son is hardly an objective account of what went on, I'm sure the band would have a different version of events, even if you accept this account he was earning £40K a year but was still in debt, he clearly couldn't manage money or his addiction, we don't know what lengths the band had gone to previously to sort his problems out so it would be best not to rush to conclusions based on this.

    Tube Map

Rimskis yard and Ped gate C should be along from the Astrolabe rather than Pilton Palais.
  17. Michael Gove too, https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/roger-waters-michael-gove-jewish-christian-wakeford-pink-floyd-b2353253.html Strange that Starmer and Gove both think the same, or is it? https://www.weforum.org/people/keir-starmer https://www.weforum.org/people/michael-a-gove

    The churnups

It wasn't, Blondie are fine live , not sure why the hate on here, Clem is a terrific drummer and well worth seeing even if Debbie's voice isn't what it was. BTW Debbie is older than Cat Stevens and Elton John and only a year younger then Diana Ross so it may be wise to set your expectations accordingly.
  20. Don't need to go down as far as A39, come off M5 at Jct22 then take the A38 towards Chedder, then A371 To Wells and then Shepton. Had to do the same myself last year with the demise of campervan west.
  21. I too missed quite a bit of this, must have been too busy with the covid thread at the time, does help to explain a few things though, was wondering why the sudden use of transgender flags by some users, it is clearly a response to Neil's "transphobia", must admit I've not seen much evidence of it but then I'm not as sensitive as some on here. As for it being a history of efests, it really isn't, there have been dramas and fallings out several times over the years with regular posters going after a disagreement. Neil has an abrasive manner at times you either accept it or go elsewhere, ( I have certainly had arguments with him at times), those who have chosen to leave do not need to come back and bitch about it, move on.
  22. We spoke to a guy on Saturday who asked if we were local, he said he was just there for the day so there is clearly some arrangement for day tickets, Pallet was busier on Saturday and Sunday compared to Friday but I guess some don't get on site until late Friday if they come after work. Overall a cracking weekend, no issues at all for us, everything perfect, there's not many festivals that can claim that. Thought the acts all put in great efforts, it was the first festival of the season for many and they did really great, Gary Numan was far better than I expected and although I've seen the Bunnymen plenty of times over the years, this was the best, really great crowd and tremendous performance, glad I ditched Interpol early and got down the front. Roll on next year.
