I don’t get this ‘I enjoyed Blur so much in 2009 I don’t want them to play again’ attitude. Enjoy them twice! And let others enjoy them too! That said, I can’t see them playing live again for quite a while once the current run is done.
  3. Whilst it would be a huge coup to get Joni, or Tom Waits, neither would be headlining or even playing the Legend slot in my opinion. They just don't fit the mould for what's expected for the slots these days and would be lost on a modern Glasto audience. If they were to do a Joni Jam over here I think it would be in front of her own fans.
  4. We said we wouldn't go next year due to other commitments, but subsequently my sister and family (who haven't been in about 8 years) and then close friends (who've never been) have said they'd be trying, so our arms were easily twisted

Talking of which, BBC2 are have highlights of Blur at Glasto 09 tomorrow night, along with the recent Radio 2 set and two other shows
  6. Wow. Thankfully the UK is (largely) a nation that’s tolerant of other cultures and faiths etc. Just because other countries aren’t doesn’t mean we should follow their lead. Obviously you don’t agree, given the way you’ve nailed your colours to the mast
  7. They would. I'm sure they wouldn't get a huge crowd of hip young people, but it'd be respectable enough. Their current show though is tremendous and I would love to see it at Glasto. And forget about Other Stage nonsense, get 'em headlining the Pyramid.
  8. Another case of ‘depends where you were stood’ I guess. We were up on the balcony and it sounded great
  9. Agreed, phenomenal stuff in Cardiff tonight. Pulp are playing South America in November, so you never know about them hanging around into 2024….
  10. Blimey, there'll be more posters off of efests going to see Swiftie next year than there will be going to Glasto
  11. There are acts that they've tried to get before (Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, no doubt many others) that won't do it for the 'low' fee that Glasto offer compared to other large festivals. Sometimes acts are just about the money and don't care about the exposure.
  12. All sorts of reasons. Not enough cash. Doesn’t care about the festival. Doesn’t like the thought of the set going out live on TV.
  13. The reverse I should think. It’s a wonder they haven’t introduced VIP rooms - same as ordinary ones but three times the price and with a collectible print of the hotel signed by the assistant manager. And a lanyard

  15. When, after the resale, it was confirmed we wouldn’t be Glasto bound this year, we considered options. I wanted something that was going to be memorable. So a week in NYC booked, as is Billy Joel at MSG, Aerosmith at the UBS Arena in Elmont and Psychedelic Furs/Squeeze at Radio City Music Hall.

I guess it was down to where you were stood. I was in a he first bank of seating, 10 rows up and everyone was up dancing and singing. One thing about Wembley though; it’s not got the greatest acoustics. Where I was it sounded ok but I’ve been at gigs before where it’s been awful. Again, depends on where you were in the stadium.
  17. Isn’t it Sunday’s gig that the freebie tickets were released for? I can’t imagine anyone will ask questions, I’m sure they’ll be glad to get bums on seats, indeed wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘leak’ of freebies not initially labelled as being for NHS workers wasn’t necessarily an error

    Blur

I’ve had some great nights at Wembley but was a bit sceptical as to how well Blur would step up to the plate. Needn’t have worried, band and crowd well up for it, even Country House was a right knees-up.
