    Avalon 2023

Hope The Damned make it this year, after dropping out last year. Was to be my Friday night headliner then - could be my Friday night saviour this year
  3. “Who did you see, Kendrick or Pet Shop Boys?” ”Sonic the Hedgehog. No regrets”
  4. Given that I, and others in my group, got as far as the payment page in October and ended up with fuck all, I’m quite glad they’re trying it this way. Naturally, if I end up with fuck all again I’ll think it the worst idea ever
  5. It’ll be the best thing ever - a rusty Ford Cortina atop a couple of Austin Allegros
  6. It’s not a great look
  7. Really? You’ve never mentioned this before
  8. 38 As per, somersetlive gave some duff info. The question regarding the first female headliner didn’t give the real answer as an option (Melanie, 1983). And the usual old chestnut - The Smiths weren’t headliners. They were 3rd on the bill, but ended up playing 4th
  9. I'd imagine mainly the former; I'm not aware that he's now got a sizeable right-wing following. I'm old enough to have seen The Smiths (3 times), but have never seen Moz solo - not so much because of his politics (although that possibly would stop me now), but mainly because his solo career never really did anything for me. That said, I've got friends who will happily still go see him live, despite disagreeing with his viewpoint.
  10. Yes, any help gratefully received 🙂
  11. The sore throat I noticed on Sunday night last year was indeed a symptom of covid. Still, didn't feel too bad and then had a few days off work to recover from the festival. Oh, and recover from covid.
  12. I tend to start off with the BSR playlist to see what I like or not, but then tend to create my own - especially once the day/stage splits are announced, based on what we're possibly seeing and sacking the acts we're definitely not.
  13. When he brings on Kiki for ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’
  14. Ukraine benefit at Wembley Stadium rumoured for Glasto weekend: Wembley Stadium tipped to host Ukraine benefit gig | IQ Magazine (iq-mag.net)
  15. LDR has been active a lot longer than Lizzo, so of course has sold more. In the UK they both play arenas (assuming they're not cancelled...)
  16. From the Mirror: And to make things worse, a source has told The Sun on Sunday about the upset: “Lana is disappointed. She was proud to be doing a headline slot, but on the announcement graphic her name is buried among lesser-known artists. She feels let down being presented as an afterthought lagging behind the all-male trio.” Whilst Emily has received some criticism lately for the all-male Pyramid headliners, I’ll always defend her on that - ultimately she has done so much to make the festival as gender balanced as possible, but you can only play with the hand that’s been dealt. I do think, however, that it was a bit of a PR backfire to allow Lizzo top billing status, whilst Lana, who is of comparative size here in the UK, is lost amongst the rest. I can see why they did it, and had there been a female legend then this wouldn’t have been an issue, but it’ll be a big shame if Lana now pulls out. Guess there’s now some schmoozing to be done with Team Lana https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/lana-del-rey-threatens-pull-29376306?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mirror_main&fbclid=IwAR2ijuSfsOmjxwron07oPs1jkyaKtVrsBEnV2hPoEzQE0HY5-vibvuj8-IU
  17. Glastonbury did the same decades ago.
  18. You judge the whole festival purely on how many female Pyramid headliners there are?
  19. Lifted from the Guardian article the other day (via the 2024 Headliners thread): Next year’s festival should see two women headline, said Eavis – one confirmed, one close, and both of them Glastonbury first-timers. Rihanna and Madonna are among the top-billing acts who have never played the festival.
  20. We know 2 female acts are headlining the Pyramid next year. This year presumably suitable acts weren't available at the time of making the booking. Swings and roundabouts innit?
  21. I saw them at the Barras too, great atmosphere that night. Previous time was in Bristol in 2017. Looking forward to the RAH in May
  22. I believe this particular resale group is at capacity, but you could form your own.
