    2024 Headliners

For me personally, this is shaping up to be an all-time stinker of a lineup. Very little interest in seeing the three rumoured Pyramid headliners. Possibly says more about me than the festival, but I am currently anticipating that anyone on the lineup that I am interested in I could see elsewhere for much less money. Really hoping we get something really out of the blue when this poster finally drops.

Pretty miserable in this thread so think I'll come in with a new suggestion. I've just been to see Rick Astley in Manchester, and I reckon we should just say f**k it and have him back on the farm and give him the headline slot he deserves
  3. Just seen Murder Capital road test songs at The MOTH Club in London. Great show, even if it was a bit loud! (I forgot my ear plugs!)
  4. I won Muse tickets and Jingle Bell Ball with single plays
  5. I remember reading before that The Rolling Stones aren't allowed to announce shows more than a certain amount of days beforehand for insurance purposes. Possible the same applies for Stevie?
  6. Could they not headline The Other Stage? Would be about the right balance up against Dua
  7. That's shocking. They should have easily been at least headlining Woodsies
  8. Oh also, know somebody that went to the IDLES pop up shop today and asked Joe if they were at Glasto. He said "No, we are going to be in America so we'll miss it... But I wouldn't lie to you."
  9. Is it possible that the festival have pulled in 3 kinda mid, yet free/cheap headliners - You'd imagine Coldplay and Dua don't cost much, the third could be someone like Muse (forgive me for putting it out there) - and are compensating with a bit of a stacked undercard? What's to say both The Killers and KoL couldn't make it to the farm somehow?
  10. Can't really say much else as I don't want to get my mate in trouble, but they will be this year and depend on how well it sells on Friday.
  11. More AC/DC dates may be coming

Not wrong at all. 5-10 years ago, I've have bought a ticket to every night of The Killers at The O2 for £50 a pop. Now I don't have a single ticket when they're £100+ each. I think this is why these bands are playing multiple dates at arenas wothout them selling out. I think the lesser costs for load-ins and everything, plus also a possible a bulk booking discount with a venue, means it is more financially viable to play multiple shows at 70% capacity than it is to play one or two at 100% capacity

AC/DC's dates near enough rule them out, if we needed any confirmation

Another one here. It was one of the best sets I have ever seen at the festival. I'm convinced anybody that thinks it wasn't great is getting confused with someone else
  15. Damn you beat me to it. Looking forward to seeing them again
  16. I caught a couple of songs in 2022, but was mainly just slowly passing through. I deifnitely think this year is going to be one where they're picked up on a more mainstream scale. I can see them headlining John Peel. If everything goes as I'm predicting, they're Pyramid subs next time they're on the farm.
  17. They're not really my cup of tea, but my girlfriend has got big into them recently - Idles. Yes, they're already established, but I think Glasto 2024 could be the set that takes them up a level. Those few songs from the new album absolutely slap, and I feel like it's about time that there was a heavier guitar act got people talking.
  18. We got one of the envelopes today. Our pack of leek seeds had Idles on it, and there was a game we could play to unlock acts. So far, we have had Soft Play, Declan McKenna, Wet Leg, The Magic Gang, The Kooks, The Streets, Katy B, Sea Girls

Also worth noting that this was also the same day WWE hosted Clash at The Castle at The Principality. Spurs also hosted Tyson Fury v Derek Chisora in December that year

If Dua is playing stadiums, surely we're talking the smaller ones like Ashton Gate, Keepmoat, etc? Despite her streaming popularity, I can't see her selling out the likes of Spurs, Old Trafford, Hampden, etc. As discussed many times before, streaming stats are not a good scale for live popularity. I can't recall having ever seen a stan account online for Dua Lipa. Don't get me wrong, I love Dua and I'd love to see a new artist hit that stadium level, but I can just see a lot of "competitions" being run for tickets if she announces stadiums.

Let's be real, Coachella do not cater their lineups to anyone buying a ticket. The whole thing nowadays is a facade for influencers and glamourous celebrities to go and get some photos. Nowadays, Coachella is barely a patch on even TRNSMT.

I was towards the back, and I took this photo whilst Noel was on. It was easily the biggest crowd I'd ever seen (Admittedly I'm usually closer to the front so can't really gauge it as much)

I just think even if she is offered it, she should turn it down at this point and come back on her next tour instead. To use another football analogy, Lampard taking that Chelsea job was too soon. He should have stuck it out in the Championship for a bit longer and learned his trade a bit more. We have to remember that headlining Glasto is easily the biggest slot any performer can get in the UK. As much as it can make you, it can also break you. I personally do not think Olivia Rodrigo has had enough live performance experience to take that risk yet. Somebody like Dua Lipa or Billie Eilish taking those slots have had hundreds of live shows across several years in all different forms to hone their craft, but O-Rod has only played around 50 actual live gigs, along with a handful of other media appearances for a few songs. I would as shocked to see Olivia Rodrigo headline Glastonbury this year as I would if they managed to book Daft Punk. I just don't see it - Though that's not to say I don't think it will ever happen.

Have I missed something? Why has the Olivia Rodrigo chat turned up a bit today? Just my two cents, I think booking her to headline at this point would be a bad move, both for her and the festival. She may have big numbers behind her, but the reality is that she has, at this moment in time, played less than 100 live shows - With a lot of those being promo sets for TV, radio, award shows, etc. I think it's a big risk to book someone with such little experience to take on such a huge slot, and for her to take it, because there's every chance it could fall flat on it's arse. To make an analogy, it's like when you see a young footballer and think "Yeah they could captain England one day, but maybe they need a Championship loan spell for now" - And that's no insult, even England's all time top scorer had a loan spell at Millwall. Don't get me wrong, if she plays, I'd hope she proves me wrong, but I certainly wouldn't want to put my money behind her headline set.
