  1. Like the sound of the shade. Might have to try to persuade my friends next time we go, but sadly we don't have tickets for this year
  2. Pretty much always camp on Hitchin Hill as that's where my friends want to camp. Personally I hate sleeping on a hill and constantly sliding down my airbed/finding my airbed sliding down the tent. The hill up to it is a bit of a bugger when your lumping your stuff from the car, but it doesn't bother me when I'm just walking back to campsite at end of a regular festival day. It's kind of an ok area that I wouldn't really encourage or discourage anyone from camping at. One pro was I did like going for a poo in the toilets next to the John Peel tent in the morning which wasn't too far a walk from our camping spot. They were always very clean and quiet at that time and it felt quite nice being in touch with nature as you're surrounded by trees. My favourite camping spot was one year we camped where we could watch the Pyramid stage from our tent. Having a long journey to get to Glastonbury it maybe wasn't worth the hassle of being there early enough to get such a good spot. But if I lived nearby I'd totally make the effort to get a similar spot again. Personally if I was choosing a camp spot I'd either want to be near my favourite stages so going to see a band in the morning was less of a trek or near an area that has lots of good food - personally think West Holts and Avalon Cafe are best stages for having good food near them. Used to think the food was good near the Park, but that area seems to have declined in terms of food stalls IMHO. Sure everyone will have their own priorities though.
  3. I lost out on booking fees for a festival and never got anywhere trying to get the money back. If I remember correctly from my research at the time legally they aren't obliged to return booking fees.
  4. Just wondered if you wanted any help with the website? I'm still encountering intermittent 500 errors as well as lots of broken images on the site (if peoples avatars are lost, could they not be reset to show the default avatar?)I've got about 20 years experience as a web developer, mostly using PHP and have worked on some fairly prestigious websites (Hilton, Herald Scotland, Reiss). Currently got plenty of spare time as have just finished a masters and still to find a job using my new skills (looking to move into artificial intelligence/machine learning). Not looking for anything in return. Have enjoyed using the forum for years so just want to help it keep going. Was going to send you a private message rather than making it a thread, but realised admin account is set up so it can't receive messages.
  5. Sorry to hear that. Hope you don't get it too bad. Seems to affect everyone differently.

  9. I found the opening post of the other thread via google cache. I can find the old page 2 of this thread via google cache: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:zLNCrSySMOsJ:https://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/topic/237785-album-of-the-month-tournament-october/%3Fdo%3DfindComment%26comment%3D6247451+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk but doesn't look like page 3 onwards was cached which was presumably where the results were, though the page I did find does have @John the Moth's amazingly in depth process to deciding his votes. I'm glad that wasn't lost to the world
  10. Everyone else's posts seem to be have lost to the ether, but did manage to find @fuzzy_logic's post saved on google cache for posterity so thought I'd take the liberty of posting their vote to save them doing it again. 11. Might be mistaken, but couldn't see this thread and guessing that maybe the backup @eFestivals used when fixing the site might have been made before this thread was created. Hope @SwedgeAntilles doesn't feel I'm stepping on his toes, but thought I'd recreate it if anyone still wanted to vote. Managed to find a cached version of the original post on google so you still get to enjoy his wonderful introduction, which I've copy pasta'd below Simply having a wonderful listmas time... It's almost December 1st which means it's that time again; time to prepare the definitive eFestivals Glastonbury Forum Top Ten Albums of the Year. As with previous years, the idea is that you post your lists in this thread, I'll compile the results and post the results prior to Christmas. Due to some (OMICRON permitting) Christmas travel I have planned this year I'll be aiming to share the results on Wednesday 22nd December. (NOTE: this year I'm doing albums only, i.e. not tracks too. If someone want to take over the TOTY they're welcome to do so). As with all organised fun the best part is the rules, and they are as follows; Please list both Artist/Band name, template below (makes it much easier for the C&P to excel) Listing your album as #1 pick will give it 10 points, your number #2 pick receives 9 points, #3 receives 8 points etc. etc. The ten albums with the most overall points will be our top ten for this year. You're allowed to list more then ten albums, but only your top ten will be considered. 'In No Particular Order' lists can be included, however each song/album will receive a maximum of 1 point and lists of any more than ten albums will be discounted. Deadline for submissions will be Midnight GMT on Sunday 19th December. And that's it! I'll give this thread a bump every few days to keep in active so take your time and have fun! ALBUMS OF THE YEAR Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name Artist/Band name - Album name (The idea is to keep this thread for lists, so would recommend we keep the more general discussion going in @Brave Sir Robin's existing Albums of the Year thread). 13. Interestingly this article comparing flight costs between Europe and America credits the EU open skies agreement with why air travel is so cheap. https://simpleflying.com/why-is-flying-in-europe-so-cheap/ Will be interesting to see if leaving the EU has any effect on flight prices in the long term.
  14. By dredging up this old thread @blutarsky has made me realise my question was so bad it somehow killed a thread that had been going for 89 pages 🙈 The irony of me thinking someone would get it straight away 😂 If anyone is curious the answer was the Pussy Parlure
  15. John Peel Tent & The Park Hot Chip 550(+5) Jazz World / West Holts Chic ft. NiIe Rodgers 305(-1) Justice 562 (-4)
  16. Also think most would agree that the difference in ability between a non league footballer and a Premiership footballer is massive. Where as music is a lot more subjective and quite often I think the acts playing smaller venues are just as talented as those playing arenas. Which is personally why for the most part I'd rather go to 4 or 5 gigs at small to medium sized venues than one arena gig. It's only arena size venues that I find overpriced personally. Smaller acts/venues I actually sometimes end up concerned how little I'm paying and worry how the band will survive.
  17. I don't think Glastonbury would risk the reputation damage for a few tickets that would cost them almost nothing.
  18. starting to feel like I shouldn't have said anything. Have I accidentally started a Justice revival.
  19. Think Justice have been in the lead since the early days of August when we started out. Crazy to think we could finally be seeing a change of leader in the next few posts.
  20. Is it worth getting Apple TV just to watch Foundation? I really loved the books. Thinking I might get it for a month at Xmas and just binge it (presuming the full series will be out by then)
  21. My friends asked me if I wanted to see Swedish House Mafia. Then we found out tickets were £97.70 for standing (before booking fees). We all decided they weren't worth that. Think it would be a fun night, but I'm only willing to pay that for a massive act I really love, not SHM. Curious if it sells out, it is their comeback tour so maybe will be popular enough to fill the Hydro. Though last time I paid anywhere near that amount to go to the Hydro was Eric Clapton and he never came close to filling it. Which makes you wonder if some acts would make more money if they reduced their ticket prices.

  24. That really amuses me as when Biffy Clyro played a secret set at the park the woman in front of me was convinced it was going to be Bob Dylan. It's something that always stuck with me. I like Biffy Clyro, but how disappointed would you be if you were expecting Bob Dylan and got Biffy Clyro.
