  1. They have however moved the woodchip mountain about, it is no longer a mountain but more of a large plateau. It is almost as if they are getting ready for something.........
  2. If it is of any interest and despite the recent weather, all the main tracks o the farm are still rock hard with minimal slop on top. The drainage and the amount of hardcore put down over the last few years have had the desired effect. Any puddles that you can see on the webcam have little depth or significance. The Whitelake is high but it is no higher than any other year at this time. It doesn't strike me as any different to any other January, and still shorts running weather. Keep the faith people, it will be OK.
  3. We had the planning notice copied to us last week as impacted. Somerset live will probably run it now it is on efest. They rip a lot off of the forums here.
  4. I very much disagree - in my very humble opinion, this is what the thread should have more of and I will look forwards to your updates. It is easy for heroes to tell us what huge distances they do but it is far harder for someone to admit to limitations or challenges. Please continue, it will encourage others and maybe provide them with motivation. Come and find me at the e-fest meet on Weds at the Ridge and Furrow, irrespective of what happens between now and then with your fitness, and I will buy you a pint.
  5. When i was small, my Irish Grannie sent me a glow in the dark virgin Mary statue made of the finest radioactive plastic Irish Punts could buy. Scary as feck to a nipper when you wake up at night with a glowing figure seemingly hovering at the end of the bed.
  6. You can book through the pub website which is now live. The menus are there etc. Probably no need to book unless it is Sunday lunch or peak times. https://thecrownpilton.com/

You will be waiting for some time. Usually no updates before June at the earliest.
  9. I believe the Crown now has an air bnb room for rent.......
  10. The steps are now wider and non slip. You won't believe the difference. It is seriously fantastic.
  11. In the last week we saw: Chk Chk Chk (or !!!) with Baba Ali as support - Bristol Strange Brew - both great, loads of energy and great sound in a relatively new Bristol venue. thought Baba Ali shaded it on points. Get Cape Wear Cape Fly - Bristol Exchange - First time seen since the original Album tour 16 years ago. Nostalgic and Sam still hits the sweet spot live. Supports were Blab (single female with backing tracks) - showing good promise early doors, and Sunflower Thieves (Female duo with acoustic and keys) - lovely harmonies and great talent. Liked both supports a lot. Gilla Band with Mandy Indiana support - Bristol Trinity - blown away by both. Mandy Indiana loads better than at End of The Road, sound spot on and they gave it full beans. Gilla Band were ferocious, extraordinary gig. The sound and passion were off the scale. In the top 3 of a very full year.
  12. Same but different. Beatherder is smaller and less intense but still a full-on event. More bands, afternoon of comedy, psytrance from Sunrise, bit of punk and other random stuff. The Beatherder and District Working Mens Social club is brilliant, runs as a 1973 Northern club with "turns", compares in sparkly jackets, talent contests and obscene bingo. Main dance stage in the trees is more house / techno. Rest of multiple dance stages play more or less anything and everything. Atmosphere always good. Worth the drive from Pilton every year.
  13. In simple terms I think they got it very right. Line-up great, never a dull moment with quality acts all over. Cashless was excellent, should be standard at as many festivals as possible. Usual crowd with minimal knobheads (as usual the 30-40 year old coked up "lads" were guilty). The sound and visuals of highest quality, Glastonbury needs to take some audio advice from whoever was in charge. The new layout was spot on, crowd size was perfect for the programming and venues. I think it may be better than it was before. Can all the doom sayers take several seats.
  14. After the nice BBC article, do we have to call you Robert now? Nutter.
  15. Independents can't compete with R+L or similar in terms of cash offered so there is little point trying. There has to be an offer that is not solely on line-up, experience based if you will but different. Boomtown has always been about what it stands for, values and shared experience. When we started going it seemed it was about 10000 kids and us. we could only be coppers or dealers as far as they were concerned because we weren't 16. It was basic, mad and i barely remember who played because it doesn't really matter. I have never bought a ticket to a festival knowing the line up. I go because of what the whole is like, not because of a handful of bands that some consider more worthy than others. All bands and acts are deserving of attention, all headliners started at the bottom of tbe bill somewhere. I will be in Matterley tomorrow, the sun will shine and it will be feckin fantastic, i have no doubt. Out
  16. This is Boomtown number 10 for us, and we have never been overly interested in the lineup until just before. We go for the "thing" not the "who". In a bizarre way, maybe this will thin out some of the line-up obsessed who value an event by the names on a poster.
  17. Saw dutch band called Kieff in Bristol last night. A bit mad, loud, in your face and very good. Would recommend them if you want a bit of different.
  18. We will keep an eye out for you and say hello.
  19. Where will you be at Boomtown this year?

There is quite a lot going on out of shot. Especially around the back of recycling and the bin painters area. Quite a lot of vehicles and stuff being moved. There are some cows out as well.
