the v.a.t.s. system, which I think is ace as it retains rpg aspects.

What did everyone specialise in? I started strength 4, perception 6, endurance 5, charisma 6, intelligence 7, agility 7, luck 5. and then tagged small guns, lockpicks & speech. Just got to lvl 2, so unsure what to choose as first per, whether to go the stealth bonus or the small gun bonus..

As halcyon said, I'm sure I'll love it more when I explore further, but on first impressions the implementation of different facets of the game seems very assured and pleasing.

I love it when you completely discintegrate an enemy with a laser shot. I've just got through to another Vault. The one behind the place that the little Lord Of The Flies kiddies are guarding.

Banned from Game.

As in: I was, Yesterday.

I was just going to let the event pass without mention but, for some reason im still mulling this over 24 Hours later.

I was in my Local Game store Yesterday looking for Oblivion on pre owned when I overheard the Manager talking to a Young Couple who were looking to Buy a 360 for the kiddie at Christmas. They had simply gone to the counter and asked for an arcade model for £129.99 and a bit of advice about how best to get it online. Listening to the manager I was just Gobsmacked at the amount of Rubbish coming out of his Mouth. Some of the things he told this couple included,

" All RROD Issues are related to the X Box Arcade Model and not the Premier or Elite Models"

" You can't go online without the Hard Drive"

" Only the official microsoft Wireless adaptor will work with the 360"

He was basically trying to sell them every little bit of Crap that he could, with no thought to the fact that things are tight at the moment. This poor Couple looked more and more disheartened as the Conversation went on so, I walked over, apologised for interupting the conversation and then said

"That Guy is telling you lies; You dont need the hard drive, just one of the larger memory cards. The wireless adaptor is nice to have but, a 10 Metre Ethernet cable off e bay will do the job for under a fiver and the RROD was prevelant amongst all early 360 models but seems to be less of an issue on newer machines".

Needless to say, the Manager fella had Puppies and removed Me from the Shop whilst telling Me I was no longer Welcome to shop there. I told him I wasn't comfortable supporting Liars anyway.

Ah! Feel better now.

Anyone else have any experience of similar goings on?

i only shop at game cos of the reward card. i think i'll stop after i get my next voucher.

gamestation is better. as are all the online places like play or asda.

bought this years ago, but after my computer died i couldnt be bothered to get back to where i was for... well, years

this game is so good, i only play it for 30 min a day, as i have too much to do, but it's made me remember how great games can be

I noticed that Shop staff have a propensity for B/S when I was buying an HDTV a few months back. Im sure it never used to be this way but I blame Bonus Culture. I can think of no other reason why Good people would lie their asses off for a Corporation.

Im another one that doesnt like GAME too much. Quite like Gamestation though. They're both part of the same company though so guess it doesnt matter what one of the 2 you shop in. Prefer Gamestation for their deals and pre-owned games. I rarely buy a brand new game tbh. Grainger games are also a good company that i buy from a lot. They've COD4 pre-owned for £22. Think Game are still charging £30 for it pre-owned.

I did something similar to Mellowfella once. Waited till the manager was in the backshop looking for the customers DS. Guy was still trying to sell the woman an old DS for a small fortune even though the lite was due to be released soon. Told her that there was a new DS coming out that was smaller and neater and that she should wait see if deals are good on it. If she didnt like the DS Lite then she could prob get the old DS for a bit less.

Woman agreed with me and told the manager she was gonna wait and look around for deals

Well done mellowfella, I am quite pally with the manager of our local game, and he occasionally cuts me a deal here and there - so they arent all that c**ty.

But I continue to be stunned at how uninformed some buyers are. I saw a guy on PS3 launch day in PC world, with his credit card out, ready to part witht the extortionate launch price - he asked the guy on the till "does this play DVD's?"

Up to 1.01 k/d ratio on Call of Duty now.

Including a marvellous game last night that (probably much to the annoyance of my team mates) I stayed in the tank for the whole game, notched up 13 deaths but didn't die once. I got a few swear words thrown my way after that but I don't care - I had a challenge to complete.

one word of advice for activision - DLC

release hundreds of tracks for GH - cheaper than dev costs and distribution - and the customer base do not care about a different quirky GUI.

get IW to work on 4 good, 10 map map-packs. again - cheaper, and will sell by the shedload.

Treyarch are apparently looking at releasing a few batches of DLC for WaW. Hopefully new maps for multiplayer, though some new zombie maps would be sweet as well.

As for Guitar Hero - how different are the several versions? I'm hoping to get one of them for Christmas but have only played it once and only then very briefly. Great fun though

I just dont like WaW anyway, so treyarch can do all they f**king well like. I still say that if IW released a 15 map pack tomorrow - cod waw wouldnt even get close on the live charts over xmas.

How come you don't like it?

I don't find the campaign as good as COD 4, but as far as I'm concerned, multiplayer is basically COD 4 in a different time setting with new maps. It's practically identical.

Now Modern Warfare 2 I am very excited about. IW are definitely better than Treyarch but I'm finding WaW BRILLIANT fun. I love it.
