But by your rationale, these people would be doing that regardless, only from a less sophisticated source. However, these people do not represent the majority of potential buyership.

The immense cost that has gone into creating these CD's will not recieve the income of 72 seperate cd's as the vast majority of the fan base will invariably buy one particular CD. That one being mainly the Seattle date as it is the longest, alternatively a personal choice of specific venue or favoured track list.

How can this be bad, and how can they profiteer so grossly from such an exercise?

It was a facetious comment yes, but I was referring to this live CD thing. I like good quality live recordings, but the charity/goodness of the heart argument is weak and based on a blind love for PJ and not much else. If Franz Ferdinand did the same thing, then they'd be getting slagged off for profiteering. It was the hypocrisy of the argument that bothered me more than anything else. PJ can release 1,000 live albums for all I care - I still won't buy any.

That's not proof, you are still operating under the assumptions that:

a. these CDs cost (considerably) more to produce/distribute/etc. than one normal PJ album (including stuff like advertising budget, promotional travel etc.)

b. no-one bought more than one

That's so presumptuous.

'Charity/goodness of the Heart', 'Franz Ferdinand would get slagged', 'Blind love', 'Hypocrisy'. Where did you pick this drivel up from? I certainly know where you are coming from and where you are going, but how you get there, I have no idea.

Cultseeker's perfectly civil to me, Ollie (it's my pet name for him) fills up the "pointless insults in lieu of actually engaging with a debate quota", which I see you have picked up.

And I'm not suprised Olivavu and Cultseeker aren't civil to you, because all you have done since joining efestivals is try to de-rail any topics they post in back to the pathetic arguments and name calling you started when you joined, and you wondered why you were banned so many times.........its pretty obvious to most people. Shame Neil has better things to do then keep banning you everytime you register under another stupid name.

I think that's well harsh. My secret lover Nora is not the only one posting in this thread to have recieved some kind of ban/warning - it's three of us by my counting, so many people sail close to the wind...

Oh for f**ks sake you really are an idiot aren't you. Your the one who constantly derails threads into arguments, and you have done since you joined.............this thread was back on topic nicely until you joined in again, unlike you Pinback has the ability to join threads without being a twat, why don't you try it for a change.

I think a quick read of your posts under your various names, proves my point should anyone be inclined to waste their time reading what this loser posts.

These posts are quite aggressive and I can only think they refer to something that's happened earlier that I've missed - I don't really think the Pope was being out of order in this discussion about PJ and the live CDs (or 'Livejamgate' as it shall be known from now on).

    • Not sure what this means for 2027 but it looks like Holt Farm's website and email are both now inactive and unavailable.   It'll be a shame if they don't operate for 2027 as it was an excellent alternative to the other off-site offerings.   Fingers crossed they're just enjoying their downtime 🤞
    • Deftones, Blink, Muse?   Deftones as the next bump up makes all the sense, Blink as the "band that has never played before" and round out with Muse as its been a long time since they headlined and they have a new album coming which seems on the heavier side from the singles so far.   I could see Muse do their own tour to be fair, maybe MCR in their place? Could also see Deftones switched out for Slipknot/SOAD depending on who is about.
    • I have no issue with the Primavera crowd in most respects. They’re always friendly, respectful and no hint that there could be trouble at any point.   However…the talking is horrific here. The xx was pretty much ruined for me due to people having conversations with their mates the whole way through. Noticed it from all different nationalities across the weekend…English, Irish, Spanish etc. There seems to be no understanding of the nuances of when it’s okay to talk and when it isn’t. And obviously the sound being quiet at a lot of spots on the main stages exacerbates the issue. That alone has made me reconsider whether I will be coming back, it would probably take a lineup as good as this year (unlikely)
