Over reaction alert!

I was talking about the term 'sixth form poetry' and not in anyway your argument, point of view or anything else 'you' related for that matter. So take a deep breath and, perhaps, tell me what you meant by sixth form poetry.

(Deep breath)

Pseudo-intellectual-mystical-drug-addled-professing to say everything about life but not really saying anything-self-absorbed-vagueness masquerading as profundity etc. That sort of thing.

A Ride example? :

'Blackbird flying in the sky

please dont look me in the eye

you are very very lucky

its not that easy to find me'

Thats an assumption on the authors part.

Others identify him through looking at his physical body. However, he cannot. Using his body as a signifier of his being is cleary as arbitrary as using a blackbird flying in the sky to him. He speaks quite clearly of alienation - which is not necessarily a self absorbed vagueness masquerading as profundity.

You caught me in the middle dazed on the carpet

I was following the lines,

that move like more snakes thinking...

Something ain't quite right

You got the devil on your side,

standing to your right come on

You caught me in the middle dazed and confused

I was following the good steps,

fancy free and footlose.

Something ain't quite right

You got the devil on your side,

standing to your right come on

I get along, I get along, I get along, I get along...

Get along

(Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along)

It's coming out my ears,

so baby here's what we'll do

There's four for you and six for him,

and four for her and let me see now

Now something ain't quite right

You can get them on your side,

then we'll have a good time, come on!

I get along, I get along, I get along, I get along...

Get along

I get along just singing my song,

People tell me I'm wrong..

f**k 'em!

It's coming out my ears,

so baby here's what we'll do

There's four for you and six for him,

and four for her and let me see now.

Now something ain't quite right

You got the devil on your side,

Standing to your right, come on!

I get along, I get along, I get along, I get along...

And when I do, I'm singing... get along!

(Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along, Get Along)

well you did offer, admitedlly not for a whole song but ya know...

Was it in this thread that a few of you guys were talking about Ben Harper not long ago?

I saw him in Derby last night  He played support for the Chili Pepper's Pride Park gig. It was a good long set too actually for a support band, easily over an hour.

I was pleased actually because it was meant to be Goldfrapp (whom I can't say I am a fan of) but they pulled out

He was awesome ;)

Driven home back from the city.

Lead grey sky come wash us nearly.

Cant you see theres no horizon?

In this speeding place called london.

I dont think that this makes too much sense.

Dampened soul come called from slumber.

Woken up; calmed like no other.

As you moan youll hear my laughter.

You grow old, Ill grow young faster.

I dont think that this makes too much sense.

Cant you see Im all used up.

I need something to come and feed me.

Got this good feeling in me.

Now that everythings feeling clear inside.

Look around, that glow is real.

Silence felt so good, inside it lay so calm.

Wind that blew some cold; now it feels a world away.

Not to try and just to be,

Someone truly special like you always were.

And when your time comes to work things out,

Your time will come to work things out,

When it flows.

A passion came to me, warmth around,

Just like you found someone.

Along side it walked with me,

Showed me to be grateful, for the way I am.

Came from deep inside.

Thoughts so real, just as the ground youre on.

Why do you want to try to be?

Look to yourself I think youll find someone.

It feels so close to me........................it feels

When your time comes to work thing's out,

Your time'll come to work thing's out,

When it flows, you don't say and I don't know

What you do when I pain

Oh god it feels so close to me

Understand me when I say this

It feels so close to me

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
