Download 2027

Someone had to do it now we've got most of the bands for Download 2026. My first uninformed guess is:

I think Ghost are almost taking time off to hit the scene next year, as with Slipknot writing.

I dont think that's the worst shout. Ghost would seem an odd ommission though. Slipknot I'm fairly confident in, finished their big tour a while ago and longer than 4 years without playing Download is unheard of. Its not like the festival haven't booked two bands this like that have headlined multiple times either and 1 that has returned every 3/4 years without fail. The gap between 7 and 11 was their biggest and then obviously natural reasons for the massive gap.

I think it depends what Ghost end up doing in 2026, if they do their own European shows over the summer I can’t see them being around in 2027 as well. If they’re taking 26 as a break, then possibly they might headline in 27.

Papa Roach won't be subbing Download in 2027, if they wanted to play it and got the offer and position they wanted they would have done it this year. Subbing Download would have been a bigger deal than subbing Greenfield for them. Amyl and While She Sleeps are too low and Amyl will likely be on a break next year too as with MIW.

I am getting the feeling that DL will be very late to get Ghost as headliners, considering how quick they were to strike while the iron was hot with Sleep Token. 26 was really their chance, I think Ghost will either be busy recording or busy touring in 27, with said tour carrying on through 28.

It's not Downloads fault that they didn't get Ghost this year.

 

The band just aren't doing summer festivals it seems - Download can't help that.

 

I think Ghost are the ones to have dropped the ball, they could have headlined all over Europe this summer

I'm not pointing any fingers, but you can't deny that they are potentially going to miss the boat with Ghost

Wouldn't Ghosts whole shtick be better suited to arenas and stadiums than a festival anyway?
