Best of the newer bands are: Bathing suits, Y (as previously mentioned by another poster), formal sppeedwear, plantoid, theatre and la securite.

I've had a listen to the bands and there's some decent listens but nothing is really jumping out at me like it might have last year with Anthony Szmiereck, Divorce, Big Special, Jacob Alon or Wunderhorse.

 
a lot of the smallest / newest acts will have a very limited range of stuff on spotify and not much budget for high end production on what is there. And hence need to be caught live!

In brighton the night before, feels unlikely given its such a long way. Not sure what they’d get from it. I suspect something underwhelming / no reason for it to be secret in particular.

on clash finder the secret set has Lambrini Girls down ... not sure if this is a guess or inside info

Definitely not them. Phoebe has been in hospital for an operation and has cancelled dates at 2000 trees and at a festival in ireland next weekend. Amongst others.

Probably too big these days id say, altho not impossible. Might cost too much.

Sorry and Lime Garden are some of the ones I'm looking most forward to, Lime Garden haven't made a bad tune.

Another great weekend with the kids at Deer Shed. Didn't follow the music around as much this year but caught Fat Dog, Say She She, Lime Garden, Deadletter, Twilight Sad and Everything Everything. Lime Garden were good and Twilight Sad put on a good show too as did Everything Everything. Hoping for an improved music line up next year. 

 

The Sleaford Mods booking absolutely baffled me and a lot of other people there. Emptied the families from the field in 10 minutes.

Good but not great weekend, felt a step down on last year in some areas. Recognise the love and care that goes into the event though in a difficult landscape. Still a fantastic event.

 

Positives 

The vibe and the people 

The Lodge stage (Joshua Idehen, Boko Yout, Karma Sheen to name a few) 

Fat Dog probably set of the weekend 

 

Negatives

The bookings were not varied enough around the top of the bill - a lot of similar acts 

Sleaford mods, who I love, were just the wrong call (as mentioned above)

Food options were down slightly  

I expected more from "the labyrinth" 

Slightly less toilets across site - though mostly always clean 

Why were panic shack labelled as a "secret" booking - kind of feels like bringing novelty for the sake of it

Another great Deer Shed. 

 

There were only two water points for the whole of general camping and live in vehicles which was a bit tight. Seemed a strange reduction but the volunteers on the info point told me there had "been too much wastage" in previous years?!

Could have done with a sink / water station that allowed for handwashing as when the hand santiser ran out...  well boh.

 

Felt a bit like General Camping's toilets were a bit squeezed and the team tending to them were a bit stretched but usually very good - I've seen a few comments from women asking for another block in the arena to reduce queues (seems fair - especially when one is closed for cleaning).

But overall - as usual - it's a great, well run setup. Kids loved the maze and the characters in it. A lot of hard work had obviously gone in and it showed. Keep up the great work Deer Shed crew. We'll be back!
