In 23 Parkway pulled a huge crowd at the main stage and although not a fan the stage show looks great. The "ticket sales" argument is kinda dead in the water, the tour sold badly sure but they do draw a crowd at festivals. But with the direction DL seems to be going they want to book popular high ticket sellers rather than festival favourites especially in a headline slot

In a year we're meant to be getting Limp Bizkit who are more of a festival favourite than a high ticket seller

I've screenshot the ring in the video several times and on the edge it says Download and on the ring itself I can make out the word Forged.

Others have said it's Forged in Fire and of course they are jumping on the Ghost clue as being Tobias Forge to do with the ring

The last clue we had with the announcement date in a matrix style must be the Linkin Park clue as they did a track called 'Session' which featured on Matrix Reloaded

It says Forged By Fire

I mean the theme this year is molten lava, and it is just a guy in cloak throwing a ring that says Download into molten lava

This guy gets it

They pull a crowd but would people really spend £100+ on a day ticket with them at the top of the bill?

They can pull crowds when a much bigger band is up next

I'm always baffled that Parkway Drive get brought up as potential headliners so much, if putting on a good show was enough then there'd be plenty more bands to talk about. Truth is they aren't big enough.

I'm not because they have a great stage show, great live performance, would knock it out the park and are fan favourites at the fest.

So cry me a f**king river, bitch.

I completely agree that they aren't big enough by traditional standards, but don't think they would get a negative response in the same way other new headliners have in the last 3 years. You know they'd fully bring it to headline Download and if you had two massive headliners on the Saturday and Sunday, I think it would be fine.

GNR will be one of the headliners

It's just odd so many are saying it's them because of apparent insiders when currently the band shows no sign of even being active next year.

Also someone on here that we actually know has insider info has no clue where GNR has come from.

GNR are coming to Europe next year with some festival dates and a few selected solo shows.

I'd be fine with Parkway headlining but just because they put on a good show and I like them doesn't mean they should be headlining lol that's not how it works

If it did work like that then you may as well have Skindred headlining

I am surprised how quick statements like that are written off when the headliners have been leaked pretty consistently year after year. Sure, it won't be 100% confirmed till the announcement but still, the same 3 headliners have been cited by people claiming to be ITK for weeks now and we might just have to come to terms with the idea they might be correct!

I think it’s the fact that there’s absolutely no substance to this rumour from people being right in the past and it feels like it came from them headlining Nova Rock which they aren’t.

It also feels weird to have Ghost touring next year but not headlining when they’ve done 2 successful arena tours now. If GNR announce some European shows then I’ll believe it but for now I think Limp Bizkit, Ghost & Linkin Park is the most solid shout. Bizkit/GNR/LP seems like a strange move the year after GD/ST/Korn, the first one fits more of a modern formula.

Which I get but very few rumours have any proper substance as no evidence can really be provided. The Nova Rock person was one of about 15 different people who have said it now so that doesn't rule the rumour out. Not saying it's right or wrong but writing it off seems mad. So many people claiming to have sources have been on here saying it. I just remember being told my information was complete nonsense, especially by Marka as well it must be said, so maybe I'm a bit more defensive of people giving info here.

I'll admit Ghost seemed the most likely but if they're not doing EU festivals (which might be the case, we dont know) then they can't exactly be booked.

There's only a couple of posters I'm aware of that have been consistently correct in the past and I've not seen them post this year with a confident 3 headliners.

we collectively agree LP nailed on. LB likely (or unlikely now after the past week?) And the third a band who haven't announced European dates yet. Probably Ghost but could be GnR or almost anyone else.

I’m not ruling the rumour out but I’m not taking it as gospel either. Like if it’s correct then whoever said it first will be more believable next year if they give out some information. Anyone can and will just make things up for some reason, the fact the rumour originally came from the Nova Rock rumour gives me doubts about it, there’s nothing to suggest it’s wrong but there’s nothing to suggest it’s right yet either and the fact Nova was ruled out makes me wonder if people have just jumped on that rumour and said they’re in the know.

It’s very possible Ghost do nothing in the EU however they have announced a stint at the start of the year in America & it’s the 2nd year of the album cycle so it would just make more sense for them to come back and do Europe again. But as you say they might come back and do their own thing and in that case then it has to be someone else then it could be GNR. I’m still firmly in the Ghost camp until GNR announce some European shows or Ghost announce their own shows.

Oh never take anything as gospel whether they have a history of being right or not. Just seeing a lot of people write it off for no good reason
