Yeah I get your points to be fair. Third second headliner Alice in Chains?

I would implode. They don’t seem to be about though. I’m not sure on the third. I keep hoping Killswitch will be about and play a bunch of the other Euro fests that are yet to announce acts but they don’t seem to be doing anything either atm.

A Perfect Circle would be the dream if AIC aren’t about.

It's very exciting this year imo because 2/3 headliners are up in the air at the moment. Assuming we get Linkin Park you could genuinely choose any from:

Limp Bizkit

Ghost

Guns and Roses

Nine Inch Nails

Blink-182

Foo Fighters

Twenty One Pilots (they are around in June)

Genuinely could be any two from that list.

Normally we have all three headliners leaked right now

I thought AIC had been announced for somewhere in Europe? A Perfect Circle could be third on main?

That’s the two I’m hoping for based on the cryptic clue I got!
Blink - R&L last 4 years

NIN - debut album pre 1991

Linkin Park - confirmed

Would be so happy with this

If Ghost are also one of the three I would be made up

If it ends up being Ghost, NIN and Linkin Park I wouldn't even care about the undercard or any of the other bookings, that would be possibly my favourite download headliner run to date.

I agree but the undercard is also looking really strong this year so this has the potential to be amazing

I doubt we will see NIN but the other two seem more likely

You don't even know who's on the undercard yet so how can it be looking really strong?, it's just speculation at the moment.

Might be stretching a bit but if they're dropping hints with the "The Truth Is Out There" thing, could it potentially be Muse? I've seen there name mentioned a few times but never seemed to be one that stuck

The announcement date poster with the witches could easily link to their song "Halloween" and the hotel post could be a link to Bates Motel from "Psycho"

I think it’s because of the other European festival announcements having good strong bands announced already so we know the pool of undercard bands touring and should get a lot of them.

I honestly wouldn’t put anything into the cryptic clues at all. The only one I could see being somewhat a clue is “The truth is out there” being linked to Blink cus of Tom but even that is unlikely.

The likes of Bad Omens, Trivium, Megadeth, Architects though take second stage or sub spots below isn't suddenly reallt strong, its been done before and it's where they should be. In fairness as well some other festivals have got them underneath mammoths of Maiden. If you get for example Architects, Bad Omens and Parkway Drive or Halestorm subbing, it's not what wasn't expected to happen. Trivium is the sub position is the one that would make it weak and judging by our most likely outcomes of a trio there is no reason to go that weak.

The argument “is where they’re meant to be” doesn’t mean they aren’t strong bookings 🤣 they’re good big name bands which have popularity and will put on a show that’s what makes them a strong booking. Plus I think strong undercard means more than the subs the second stage headliners etc the bands 3/4 down on the bill I think will be strong and big names for their slot. At the very least there will always be something for someone to enjoy which should be the goal and how it becomes a strong undercard. I don’t get why your so invested anyway to be honest you’ve made your feelings quite clear you aren’t going to the festival next year anyway 🤣

Based on the rumours said that is. Yes it means the the top half of the card. Yes they can still be strong but they aren't out if the ordinary. Even in 24 after asking 21 bands to headline they still had Royal Blood, The Offspring and LB sub. Weezer, Shinedown and Bullet is definitely an argument in favour of the opposite, all 3 could have been 3rd down and while Shinedown was a top performance, all 3 arguably should have been.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they last played Download 2015 Glasto 2016 Reading/Leeds 2017 and most recently IoW 2022

No doubt they've been approached more than once by Download to Headline since 2015

And I'm sure someone on this Forum said last year they were approached by Download for 2025 and said no. Not sure they seem that keen TBH

The 'clues' very likely mean nothing and they're just there to make the announcement Halloween themed, especially as Download would never go that deep with them.

At most it could just mean Download will be releasing hints at some point
