Docs or wellies?

Hi there!
Heading in with our hired camper today, buzzing!
I have been holding off from buying wellies as I’m travelling and don’t want to carry them around.
For the seasoned Glasto’s, do you think doc martins will suffice this upcoming weather forecast.

otherwise I’ll get some on the way down.

thanks in advance, see you in the field! X

Docs will do most of the time. Good sturdy boots. Anything but flip flops or plimsols!!!

But if the rain persists snd it gets churned up laces can be an issue. I have had to cut them off a few times. Usually i take wellies as i have a pair in the back of the car most times anyway. If you do buy wellies, 1) don't buy Hunters - a complete waste of money - overpriced and badly made 2) buy welly socks and 3) take them home as they will (other than hunters) last for many years.

Unless it's an absolute mudbath, like proper deep, then boots over wellies everytime. Much better for all day walking, more comfortable and most importantly - you can't dance in wellies (well not properly anyway).

The official advice given to green crew is boots over wellies.

Docs will be fine.

Pre-broken in Doc's, that is. I once made the fantastic mistake of wearing a new pair (my only footwear) to the festival, and was almost rendered physically disabled from movement by the Sunday. And then I met a bloke I knew fairly well (now a dear friend) who asked me what the fuck was wrong with me. So, I told him that I was clinging to the fence, stood still, because I couldn't walk forward or backwards (back to camp) with the pain. He produced a tablet (could have been two) which were not recreational drugs, and carried on his cheery way. About 30 minutes later I was frollocking like a new born lamb. Fuck knows what he gave me, but it certainly took the pain away. I guess I was probably ripping my feet further to shreds, but cared not.

Just mentioning the above to an old post, so that nobody new has to go through what I went through.

I spent a number of festivals during the 90's, well at least large parts of those festivals, barefoot.

Still do it at Shambala during the daylight hours.

I have memories of turning up at service stations after the festival barefoot, covered in face paint and wondering why people were staring at me.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
