East Campervan Field, Newbie Question

Hi folks, been going to the festival since 2013 but this will be the first year in a camper. I'm in East (not quiet) and plan to get there when the camper fields open.

Have a few mates arriving late Tues night by car, who are keen to camp next to the van. Have read other posts about tents next to the van and seems this is doable as long as you let the stewards know to give you a bit more room.

My question, they can't get down till Tuesday night (work issues), so if they arrive in the carparks Tues night for the 9pm open, can they get into the camper fields, is there route through on foot?? If not and they have to go back out the car park to the camper field vehicle gate entrance, how much of a mission is it from purple carparks?

The official word from the festival can be found in Campervans and Caravans

Basically, you can put up a tent(s) as long as it fits into the overall pitch size.. The pitch isnt marked out though so it is a case of no taking the piss..

Now, people on here will i am sure say different... but I didnt think you could get through from the car parks until wednesday am... (i dont have any actually experience to confirm this..). I am an early riser and have often been up at 7am when they march the bedraggled car park dwellers through to start queueing on the hill of death (slope of mild inconvenience) ready for gates open...

The route through from car parks to CV East (and on to gate PG-C) can be seen on this handy map

Were going with friends but unfortunately we have campervan east and they have east quiet, what's the odds of blagging the stewards to allow us to pitch together if we arrive together?

You getting into East Quiet with them? Almost non existent.

Them getting into Regular East with you? Depends on the state of play upon arrival.

I have seen Fiona Ingram (CV Fields Manager) answer this question in a Facebook group and it will be fine if you all go into East, but not East Quiet. 😀

If you were planning on turning up on Tuesday, I would personally prefer to camp together in 'General' than be split. Whilst I would always prefer being in quiet, in the general scheme of things it isnt really going to make a world of difference to the overall walking through the week..

We normally meet friends near the festival and travelled in together, then as you park up one of you can reverse in and you will have van doors facing each other and can create a central socialising space... (We actually have tents at either end as well which creates a great space..)

Tuesday is a great chilled out camping day with BBQ's and drinks and a great feeling of expectation for the coming days.. Take the opportunity to stand at the top of the Hill of Death (Slope of Mild Inconvenience) on Tuesday night and drink in the view over the site before it all kicks off... Marvellous!

Can't wait for this! Its also our first year going in CV fields and looking forward to a much more relaxing start to the festival (spent the last 4 in the queue with all our stuff from 10pm Tuesday)

We will be turning up Tuesday lunchtime, we don't live far from site so will be traveling together.

Good tip turning the van round, we will also have someone in a tent camping with us so this would probably be easier for them also

I love it... Its actually one of my favourite days.. Set up by early afternoon, have a beer and a chat with your new neighbours, we usually have a big chilli and rice dinner, open a box of wine, wander along to the HoD for the view in the evening.. Enjoy!
