Quality Over Quantity. One Hour Slots

If I'm watching a band I like then yes I wish they were on for longer. But then sometimes I'm stood there watching a band I dont know and thinking 60 mins is far too long....overall, I think they have got it about right.

I agree with the chap above though, why some headliners think they are super special and should play for 3hours at a festival baffles me. Especially when it always seems to be the bands who's songs all sound the same too. Watching that bruce springsteen set was a bigger endurance challenge than running back to back london marathons. Awful.

I thought Springsteen was great because of the length of the songs. As soon as a song started it meant you could go to the loo, get a beer and get back to your spot in time for the fifth chorus!

there's pretty much no-one I want to see (now Prince is planted) for more than an hour. It'll do for pretty much anybody in the world. the idea that quantity = quality is bullshit. Springsteen, The Cure et al, nah, knock it on the head.

No point forcing bands to pad out their set if they don't have the material.

I note in astonishment that Royal Blood have been allocated an hour, which beggars belief given that their riff only lasts 10 seconds or so.

Ah - but you've also got to allow for the drum solo.

Even as a fan The Cure's three hour set last year was an endurance challenge.

I agree that 90 mins to two hours is about right for a headliner... unless it's Radiohead.

Yes Radiohead should play creep and high and dry before fucking off. Perfect set for them.

Disagree about the Cure!  I am only a casual fan and I loved that three hour set (saw it at Roskilde the same year Bruce headlined there). To me it seemed like an hour of newish stuff, then an hour of slow, moody material and then a full hour of hits.  Really loved it.
