Glastoworker2017
Hi, I'll be going to glastonbury this year for the first time and as a volunteer with WBC. I understand we have separate staff camping with dedicated shower/toilet facilities however I wanted to know within the 'canteen/social' area whether there are electricity points for phone chargers (and perhaps my little travel hairdryer...don't judge me!) If anyone has any extra information it would be much appreciated, thank you.
Mark E. Spliff
There are a few multi-plug points by the tea urns in the catering tent, but people tend to waste hours sitting by their phone to make sure someone doesn't unplug it early. I'm not aware of any phones-only policy and I reckon you'd get away with straighteners, but would recommend investing in gas straighteners and a portable charger for your phone so you don't waste your festival sitting by a plug socket. There are also plug sockets at the back of the bars themselves which should be easier to access, but it depends on whether the manager of your bar is helpful - some are anything but. giantkatestacks
Dont bother bringing your hairdryer - you arent going to use it and people will just get the right hump if you are clogging up the tea making area. Just crack on with a hat.

dazednconfused
Treat yourself and go to the hairdresser if you feel you need a decent hair day. There are usually a couple around.
jfaragher
I will be working for someone else, and hairdryers / hair straighteners are a strict no. They are operating on limited power supplies etc, and anything that has a much higher draw than a phone can cause them problems.

If anyone has any extra information it would be much appreciated, thank you. if this year had been a normal year I would have contacted the set up crew to find out if they were going to lay extra power lines but I was in Hospital and had no access to a PC and its a right pain the arse trying to type using a Smartphone + I had no access to my contact list { which was contained in the PC } so could not call them and with no PC I could not post a image from it - the image below is a typical set up So how did you find it ? although I missed the season I was out with the WBC Council just after Latitude and I know that events went well but have yet to see any shots from within the Crew bar so have no idea how it was laid out. I heard the Catering was good and the WBC has extended the Catering contact for next year to the same Company so they must have been good. hope you had a good time.
