having done quite a few glastonbury festivals now..... i know the pitfalls, the areas, the size off the place, travel light its a hike , don't smash it on the first night, pace yourself, wash your hands , eat ,drink plenty of water, suncream, wear a hat !  haha ,  etc etc ... course i still make the same mistakes like drinking too much on the wednesday etc.. but i know the consequences nowadays! haha

had a bad experience this year bringing a newbie in our group that came , a friend off a friend shall we say and ending up pretty much falling out with him due to his total knobbish

behaviour !  i actually lost him one night on purpose and he was gone for 4 hrs ! haha.. and believe it or not after being violently sick all ov monday on the way home actually ended up in A+E monday night with severe stomach bug and dehydration ! (karma i thought) hahaha,  shouting stupid shit when an act was on.... littering, pissing ! despite being told an told !! one woman

absolutely ripped strips off him one night near the pyrimid stage on the thursday night i think after pissing up a fence !  apologies to you ! so embarrassing ! i shouted and kicked off but was you gonna do when he just stumbles off and does it !

needless to say....... he won't be invited with me anymore, and after his trip to A+E i don't think he would want go anymore , he just really didn't get the place in the way i do, it was just one big pissup an fuk everyone else.... coulda caused an issue with my friend ( who does get the place ) as it was his friend etc an became pretty awkward as I'm like...errrr your mates a bad nobhead!!

anyway....... just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues bringing new people.... friends off friends etc..... i think its really difficult surrounding yourself with the right people at glastonbury due to how big the place is and the pure challenge the place can be..... and without the right attitude its going too cause problems ! be interested if anyone else has had the same issues as it very nearly brought my whole festival on a downer even though i tried to brush it off !

If I've got it right I think the point is, if you bring someone that you don't know very well, and they don't *get* the Glastonbury vibe at all, how would you deal with their total disregard for the festival ethics of taking care of the farm, consideration for your fellow Glastonberries, and so on? How do you get someone to get it when they don't , especially once they're beyond the point of really caring? Sounds like a right mare! I can't offer anything, other than be careful who you choose to bring along!

Took 4 newbies this year and drummed it into them before we even got there about the 'Leave no trace' ethos of the festival. Was so impressed to see them crushing cans and putting them in their bags after drinking whilst we watched bands. They even commented on how refreshing it was to be at a festival where people looked out for each other and that it had reignited their passion for festivals after some previous bad experiences elsewhere.

Shame that there will always be knobs at Glastonbury, but I assume these people are knobs in everyday life anyway.
