Was it so hard to book Blur or The Libertines instead (or in addiction) of fuckin Bastille? Not my favorite bands, but at least they have a little bit of "history", some albums, a fan base...

Do Pkp have financial problems? Bastille is an afternoon band even for a mid size festival

I can't make head nor tail off the announcement. I was assuming that there was only one headline act, that being Linkin Park. Some good stuff in the middle but short on BIG names for me. Still going, plenty to keep me busy but need to carefully pitch this to a message who is coming along or he'll be cancelling!

Suppose Blur will be announcing a European tour, then Pukkelpop?

Analyzing the size of the name of each band in last part of the video that they have posted in Facebook:, it seems:

Thursday: Limp Bizkit subbing - Linkin Park headlining

Friday: Ellie Gouldging subbing - Bastille headlining

Saturday: The Offspring subbing - ???? headlining

Unbelieveable

Truly shocking. I'm astounded and gutted. They fucked us over again on the mainstagers.

Bastille+Libertines maybe? 1 hour for each. And then closing act

In terms of popularity Libertines are not even a sub in Belgium, I was actually expecting them to sub over a big name like Blur or Linkin Park so it wouldn't have mattered. Bastille + Libertines would still be incredibly weak.

Festileakers value, after today is a response from us in place. First of all we want to thank you very much for the enthusiasm today. This enthusiasm came with so much at once, that our servers can not cope temporarily. This is a lesson that we take for the future. Then concerning Blur. The source who tipped us this information last week is still sure of himself. Meanwhile additionally has a second source reported the story. We would like to point out that you Pukkelpop in their press release only to Linkin Park explicitly speaks of a 'headliner'. Until the festivals this summer, The Festileaks editorial

The above is on Festileaks facebook page. They replied to me after an angry tweet I sent them (get me!)

So from it, it would appear that Blur are still coming and LP are the only headliner named so far.

If this is the case its a massive balls up from the PP organisers

In terms of popularity, are Bastille an headliner in Belgium? :)

At this point I think we could expect anybody as a sub.

Only hope is for a good third headliner. Do you think festileaks is right and Blur will headline. Or they just confused Bastille with blur? (Maybe an internal source just told them "it's a British band whose name stars with letter B and touring this summer")

Do note that this is very similar to The xx in 2013. Never explicitely called a headliner unlike Eminem and Neil Young (yet same size on the poster), so people were assuming they couldn't be a headliner.

Well no, but I'm not sure if adding an afternoon main stage/marquee headliner sized act as headliner would tone down the overall criticism. It'd make more sense to have them coheadlining with Pixies, for example.

I can still see Blur playing though. I just wouldn't call them a certainty, since they're obviously not 100% signed yet if that's the case.

I assume we will get our last headliner (and probably some more names) in the next 2 weeks. Usually they start the ticket sale exactly 1 week after the first announcement. Now it's 3 weeks (+ in Easter holidays, which is rare for major Belgian fests), so surely they must be waiting for something?

Gotta admit I'm pretty hesistant as well this time... Some observations though:

Lots of repeat artists. War on Drugs make sense to me due to their rising profile, but what have Truckfighters done since last year's dissapointing show? People like Four Tet, Little Dragon, Gorgon City, Parov Stelar Band and Hudson Mohawke have all been on recently too - although all of those are solid.

Dance department really seems split three-ways this time. A lot of techno, a lot of DnB and a surprisingly high amount of people who got 'big' during the 2008 electro hype (Erol Alkan, Brodinski, A-Trak, Boys Noize, Magician, Mr Oizo). At first glance it seems like Trap will be less prevalent this time?

There's some cool stuff hidden in there: Trixie Whitley has a magnificent live reputation; as does Charles Bradley; Jurassic 5 I haven't seen on line-ups in quite a while; Beatsteaks are a staple of German festivals - wonder what brings them here.

Freaking The Get Up Kids!!! Didn't even know they were still around. There's your nostalgia right there.

Above & Beyond are a curious one here, they're a massive trance act and used to frequently show up in the top 10 of that DJ Mag list.

Headliner wise it could really go all over the place. I think Bastille are popular enough to be the underdog headliner like The XX back then, they drew huge crowds at Pinkpop. With Linkin Park and The Offspring that's 3 right there. Put Underworld, Major Lazer and Netsky as closing acts and you're done. None of those I'm interested in though... Weirdly I expected Interpol to headline, they're doing so at Lowlands.

Lastly, Future Islands sound pretty fun. Randomly picked that to listen to first, not bad for maybe a Marquee day 1 opener.

Yeah, maybe they should book that Paul Mccartney who is singing with Kanye too...

nice newbee that Paul!

Hahaha yikes guess I'm being accidentally ignorant of something... Are they really that well-known? Had genuinely never heard of them. Anything I should check out? Quite liked this one song I clicked on at random.

    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
