Working at Glasto advice

So next year i'm considering applying to work for the festival, I'm actually quite excited about the prospect.

Anyone done it before? Could give advice or tips and stuff?

I know it depends who you work for, but is there some universal ground rules or tips that you'd advise someone - or wish someone told you before you did volunteer work?

Overall, did you enjoy it and was it a good experience?

Any feedback helps alot!

Pick your work to fit your strengths and what youll be happy missing entertainment wise. Are you a night owl? Can you gamble on missing a headliner? Are you happy doing overnight shifts etc.

We fing it really very rewarding and its great to be involved but it can be very hard indeed unless you get really lucky. Some of my friends who did oxfam thisyear lucked out as they had too many people and ended up only doing 2 shifts. I doubt they will make that mistake again.

Things easiest to get into: oxfam stewarding, recycling and shelter bars ( not WBC unless youre affiliated etc).

Others will chime in I'm sure. If youve got unlimited time off or are a student then you can do all your shifts before etc if that suits better.

I was told by two people at this years festival that working it is crap. They said that the shifts are dictated to you and that the overall enjoyment is stiffled by these shifts. They are fairly hedonistic blokes though and this fact may have swayed their judgement. I know that there are people on here who thoroughly enjoy working the festival. I guess it depends on what type of person you are and what you want to get out of it. I looked at the litter pickers this year and thought that's something I couldn't do.
