Jake Bugg Appreciation thread

I'm sure his song was used on the theme to Happy Valley on the BBC recently. Cracking tv series. Ok song but I think he's a bit bland so I'll be elsewhere

Haha, thats a fair point! I suppose its a combination of many people saying Bugg isn't so good live, plus the fear of missing out on the biggest act at my first ever Glastonbury. My admiration of Bugg's first album still stands though, and even if I catch the start of Metallica I'll be surprised if it doesn't push me away to see Bugg.

. Go to jake bugg. Ignore everyone else, he is very good and 'his' crowd will be well up for it on Saturday night. It will be a highlight of the festival.

I'm the original poster of this thread - I started it cos I love his first album, but everyone warned me he is boring live.

I enjoyed his headline set, and the atmosphere around me was excellent, but was not exactly totally blown away and agree it didnt feel like a headline set. He sounded absolutely great to me, but as expected there was zero interaction with the crowd, and from a personal point of view he didn't play my favourite songs (the acoustic ones). Maybe he saved those songs for the acoustic set which I couldnt see due to clashes.

For the record, I saw the first 15 minutes of Metallica, but they were on late, then most of that time was the confusing video, then I only had time left to see half of one song and decided I should defintely go and see Jake, which I dont regret.

Acoustic set wasn't too dissimilar I believe. Broken was good, other than that it just felt like a normal set. As you say it didn't feel like a headline set.

Surprised 'Country Song' wasn't played as well

My favourite songs are 'Simple As This' and 'Someone Told Me'. I love Country Song too. I heard none of them! He didn't sing Fire either! (Mind you, he does have 2 albums now and I havent heard his second one).
