if you say so like. sure i could find plenty of people who would disagree with you (mainly the people who had the best time during The Script's set last summer or the 90% of Leeds fest who specifically avoided NIN) but opinions make the world go around :)

Aye but one band's had a long career, putting in the hard yards, to work their way up lineups, releasing critically acclaimed music. One has done feck all except write a couple of albums of background music, that middle-aged folk stick on in the kitchen whilst cooking dinner (I think so anyway; when else do they get listened to?)

I'm not him, but one has critical acclaim, is very well respected within the music industry, and has a large base of dedicated fans. The other has Radio 2 DJ's playing their music and I'm pretty sure will never be mentioned again in ten years time.

Majority of people, though, watch The X-Factor, read The Daily Mail, and listen to Take That. The majority doesn't matter at all in terms of credibility/embarrassment.

If you're arguing that Rudimental are better than Kraftwerk and My Bloody Valentine then wow!!

26 years and they can sub, compared to The Script not needing 26 years. Yeah NIN have been around for longer and have had success in their genre, but The Script have a wider fan base (I am guessing as 'the majority' listen to them and have them on in the kitchen) despite not being around as long. Longevity of a career doesn't always have to mean success

Edit: IF you say success is judged on fan base

Bit harsh. Okay they're pretty mainstream but they're not that bad..IMO :)

LOL cheers for the advice, I'll be sure to bear it in mind next time I think of criticising those music pioneers Goldie Lookin' Chain or Franz Ferdinand (both of whom I don't mind, incidentally, but they're hardly about to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame)
