Was that ever shown to be the reason? The soundwave guy seemed to be in a bit of a mood and posted a lot of stuff about Trent turning down his fesival as he didn't want to play to that fanbase, but then afterwards it seemed to be because NIN were doing their own tour with QotSA in Australia instead of festivals. So it's more than likely he just said no because of the NIN/QotSA tour.

Tomorrows announcement was said to include the first headliners somewhere, which makes me think we'll get 2 headliners, but not all 3.

I had no idea Slayer, Mastodon and Ghost were announced for Soni Hamburg. I imagine they'll feature then, fancy them getting 'the big 4' together in 2011 and then next Sonisphere they're all (bar Anthrax who just play Sonisphere anyway) back in the area again. :P

Well, my final prediction is going to be:

Friday Apollo

System of a Down

Soundgarden

Megadeth

Saturday Apollo

Metallica

Stone Temple Pilots

Motörhead

Saturday Saturn

Slayer

Mastodon

Sunday Apollo

Iron Maiden

Deep Purple

Alice in Chains

Sunday Saturn

Alice Cooper

Anthrax

Aye, the soni Hamburg line up didn't really surprise me. Next years line up will probably feature a lot of K2 bands, and bands that Kili are promoting too (which has been the case in the past anyways) It'll be easier for them to be booked, obviously - and were probably approached well in advance for 2014. Good thing about that is, they are mostly pretty good bands!

From the upcoming tours/bands they tend to do tours for I'd expect The Wildhearts, 65DOS, Red Fang, Frank Turner, While She Sleeps, The Defiled, Don Broco, Mallory Knox, Protest the Hero, Sylosis, Alk Trio and Sonic Boom six to have been approached and some of them as serious possibilities. K2 bands from the top of my head are Maiden, Metallica, anything related to Corey Taylor, Alice in Chains Slayer, Mastodon, GHOST, Rob Zombie (obviously not happening as he's at Download)...there's more but that's all I can remember off the top of my head that would fit into soni.

But aye, I'd expect a bunch from those to turn up, obviously not much of a surprise as a lot have either played before, or people would expect to see anyway, but it shows who is most likely to turn up.

They should be tying up their bands like The Joy Formidable and Cage The Elephant and competing with R&L instead of putting on the same shitty predictable bands lower down the undercard. Sounds like they just want to put on another version of Download, which wasn't a great long-term model for success last time.

    • Boards of Canada never perform live, I doubt they'll start now. Also Strokes have a show in Barcelona next tour so also less likely.   And adding Nine Inch Noize to the mix And we should definitely get Iggy Pop back before his body completlt dismantles
    • Starmer wagging his finger with a stern warning again. The media are briefed they'll  ban social media for under 16s then he stands up and makes an empty threat on nude images. Why does he keep doing this?
    • My top 5:   1. Little Simz (her appearance with Gorillaz was also one of the highlights of their show. The absolute winner of the weekend) 2. Cure 3. Rilo Kiley 4. Gorillaz. A bit disappointing set for me, compared to last time. Felt like a bad setlist, whenever things started to heat up, they did some new calmer song 5. Florance Road. The good thing thay came out of the rain is being able to see them
    • So since Andy Copping has stepped down and this new booker has taken over, we’ve had Green Day (who Andy never managed to book) and now potentially Blink 182 (another Andy never got done) is this just coincidence or do you think Andy never actually pushed hard for these bands?
