Record time?

Correct me if I'm wrong here:

Last year the coach packages were included in the general sale, and it sold out in 1hr 40. This year separately took around 30 min for the coach plus 1hr 27 for general admission = 1hr 57 to sell all tickets.

Does it matter? No

Are GF and Seetickets manipulating the numbers to blow smoke up their own arses? Probably

Listen, I got a ticket (and I'm pleased as Punch) and I don't care about See and their problems (everyone's in the same boat). I just don't like it when companies make false claims based on dodgy figures. GF saying tickets sold out in record time is essentially the same as saying our ticket selling procedures are getting better. It is also a better headline than "Tickets sell out in roughly the same time as last year" - doesn't have the same ring to it.

The problem with the capacity number is lots of people quote the permitted capacity INCLUDING volunteers, traders, hospitality, kids, crew and talent. Glastonbury has SOLD 135,000 full adult weekend tickets to patrons for a number of years now, add the Sunday local tickets and the miscellaneous passes, they end up with almost 200,000 on site. In previous years the coach packages have been sold during the April resale. Usually the returned full weekend adult tickets would sell out, then people would panic and pick any coach with remaining availability. All that happened this year was they created a separate sale day for the coach packages. Yesterdays sale still shifted the same amount of tickets as usual.

If they had 120,000 servers it would have sold out in a minute. How many minutes is immaterial really. The point is to have any chance of a ticket you have to get up and be ready before tickets go on sale. Seems bizarre to think that I first went in 2010 and I completely forgot tickets were going on sale and it was only seeing a friend post on Facebook that they had got tickets at about Midday that prompted me to try and I had no problems.

    • This basically!, it's about as clear as day they'll be there.
    • Yeah there is no down time, I'm still tired and over thinking from last weeks work. A big reality check this week. If you just do it for the money you always will.

    • Robbie Williams would fit with the current state of the legend’s slot, and he’d bring the house down.
