Resale

Didn't manage last year, but for my last Glasto (2011) we picked up coach tickets in the resale. Pretty sure we went for this because the regular ones were gone by the time I got online (although it wasn't as bad as Sunday if I remember correctly), but might be wrong.

One thing to bear in mind; they gave out the actual Glasto ticket on the coach, so you can't simply buy a coach ticket from any old place, and then assume they'll post you the ticket and you can still go by car.

Hi guys,

I'm only new to this but I'm in severe need of help! I've tried 4 of the last 5 years the tickets have been on sale (in both the Octobers & Aprils), this is the first time I got through to booking them and put in our details 5 times to be told there was a page error each time! On the fifth time of putting the details in and clicking 'confirm' we were put through to a page informing us that the tickets had sold out, I really was crying internally.

I am in desperate need of getting tickets in the resales, I'm hoping my luck will change... can anybody help me at all with anything, how do I keep up with updates on sneaky little resales or any back door links I've heard of, I'm not good with computers though really so it's all not making sense to me! I'm clutching at straws! Is there even any way I can buy a ticket off anybody and try and get in on somebody else's registered ticket if I don't get them in the resale?

All help appreciated!

Cheers,

Benj

I've known people to get in successfully on touted tickets. However you've got to ask yourself if you'd travel x-hundred miles and spend £200 (or more?) on a ticket based on a hope you might get in. Personally I think that's cutting it fine.

Can anyone remember if the booking form was cut to four people in the resale? (P.S. I got lucky with the secret last sale for a couple of friends (idiots) who forgot to pay their balances (having sweated buckets getting them in the first place) - had no luck in the proper resale. Lucked out this year with mine - and having told myself it wasn't the end of the world... this winter isn't going to be the same... something missing...

hi guys.

i have a bash script running which checks the seetickets website every thirty seconds, stores the md5 hash of the html dump and stores it. the next minute, if the md5 digest is different, it e-mails and sms' me. took ages to sort out as the page's code does change every few seconds with some javascript. had to strip those lines out to standardise it. works beautifully now.

layman's terms? if there is any change whatsoever on the website, i get an e-mail and sms instantly.

i'll post here if i ever see any more tickets on sale. i could also put some more people on the e-mail list if they want. it really does work well. although if seetickets change their page to use more java or flash, we're in trouble. it'll be a lot more difficult to script something up. but for now, happy fucking days!

this isn't really all that useful until after april though. you never know, though.

I've been researching a few options to work but most will want a hefty deposit before the resale. It's so difficult! I don't mind working, but I'd rather not if I can go as a punter and would be gutted if my mates then got through in the resale. All hopes on the resale by the looks of it.

I can't think about anything else. Miserable as hell.

There's another thread on here - started by gibbin82 I think? No one is really recruiting yet though. You can email Glasto direct from their website (Look under 'jobs') about litterpicking. The lady got back to me - sounds good but you have to pay a deposit by end of Jan, which is putting me off a bit.

There are lots of other options but none seem to be recruiting yet and most use regulars by the looks of things :(

I've just checked the email, mine for 2013 was an unannounced resale on 8th May. Mind you, that resale was only 15 minutes and coach tickets from London, so someone else with a watcher notified me and we had to compromise on travel, but got there :D

I don't mind paying the deposit and I don't mind litter picking. Would be nice to give something back.

What I do mind is all my mates getting lucky in the resale and me being the only one working! If I put myself down for that in January it basically rules me out of the resale because I'd be throwing £200 away. Plus I don't want to mess them about. It's four shifts of six hours so a fair bit of work too.

I'm so conflicted about it.

Same here got coach tickets from London on May 8th, talk about getting near last chance.

For those asking last time is was like this

Oct main sale

Jan announcement of resale

April 21st resale

April notice on official website of a resale "sometime in the week beginning 6th May"

May 7th about 1pm resale of limited departure coach packages for both Wed and Thurs

May 8th about 1pm resale of (even more) limited departure coach packages for both Wed and Thurs

It was at this point that I got my tickets so, like those of you who know there are resales but haven't needed to look very closely into them before, I tuned out a bit at this stage.

However I believe there was another resale on May 9th/10th and reports of one or maybe 2 more than month and possibly another one in early June

The last two years there have been no secret resales before the actual resale. So imo your next chance is the resale which you will get lucky in (positive thinking people)

However just some info on the secret sales in case one does come up between now and the resale.

These secret ones were very short, 15/ 20 mins so you need to be in a position where you get an alert instantly.

Put every conceivable link on monitor, I had every one from any thread here plus all official ones etc monitored by 3 different sites and added any more I found.

Get everyone you are going with to do the same, some of my friends who weren't going checked regularly for me. I had family checking efestivals, monitors etc for me whenever I wasn't connected.

Some people here will offer to PM you if they get an alert, I signed up and got PMs when the sales started.

Be connected whenever you can whether it's computer or phone, check every update/email/notifications as soon as you can, have all booking details close to hand at all times.

I know how you are feeling now, it's horrible and I felt we'd blown it especially after the April resale but it really is true what people say if you want to go enough and are dedicated enough to stick at it you will get a ticket

So that means my theory of the resales becoming a lot harder than previous are correct? Not having the thousands of coach packages available will surely make a huge difference. Damn.

Thanks for this too - really helpful!

Still confused about coach tickets. So last year did you buy your ticket in the main sale and just add a coach later? Surely they didn't expect all coach travellers to wait for the resale? Sorry if I'm being dense.
