PastCaring
Could be a case of not having one name, as yet, that's sufficiently big to announce on its own, so they're going to wait until they have a batch of them?
Uncle Liam
Could be a case of not having one name, as yet, that's sufficiently big to announce on its own, so they're going to wait until they have a batch of them? Shades of last year then! First announcement: The Kooks, Feeder, Ash. Lol.
Cristall
Arctic Monkeys will play in Japan on the 16-17th August, so they could play at Sziget on the 13th. Why not? They would have 2 spare days to move to Japan, I guess it's enough time. I didn't say it's impossible, but as in recent years only very few bands played both Sziget and Japanese shows in one week I think AM at Sziget is not likely. PastCaring
It's interesting that Benicassim have yet to make an announcement also - and these two festivals have frequently shared artists, including headliners, in the past. 504329lt
Well, soemone on the Benicassim forum seems to think they've got the Stones and Oasis!!!!!!!!
PastCaring
I seriously doubt that they've got The Stones, but who knows!
TheBourdi
First names announcement before end of january ! they wrote it in a comment on the official Facebook page !
payneruk
Has anyone done this festival without camping? Apartment/hostel/hotel. I'd rather camp but my mates are big girls and it's going to be our holiday rather than just a festival.
Uncle Liam
Well I haven't, but my some of my mates have. For me, I couldn't do it because I like getting wrecked and then walking two minutes to collapse in my tent. Loads of Taxi's at the main entrance though, but I don't know what time until. Probably all night I would imagine.
payneruk
I think rented apartment would be nice but some of the hostels do free festi transport. Really excited about this festival can't stop watching videos on it! Would you recommend having a few days free before or after it? Just to mooch around the city etc
Uncle Liam
I arrive on the Monday and leave Budapest the Monday after. You can fritter around during the day, but I'm not the biggest fan of Budapest so the last two years I've got the train to Bratislava to stay with a friend. This year me and my mate are going to Prague on the Monday and flying back on the Wednesday. Remember if the Hostels are doing free transport the chances are they will be dictating what time you arrive and leave at.
PastCaring
We did Sziget the year before last and stayed at the Ibis Heroes Square. As Uncle Liam says, there are plenty of taxis - in fact, there was a taxi rank outside the festival that appeared to run all night. I, personally, would recommend spending a few additional days in Budapest, as it is a beautiful city, and we didn't feel we had enough time to explore in the few days that we were there. Uncle Liam
Let's face it, it's gonna be Outkast at least one night.

marci14
Does anyone still care about OutKast?
TheBourdi
OutKast are awesome ! Really great act for Sziget ! One of the best hip-hop band of all time !
johnybegood
Let's face it, it's gonna be Outkast at least one night. Is it a rumour, a fact or just a prediction?
marci14
Is it a rumour, a fact or just a prediction? A strong rumor, since OutKast said they're gonna play like 40 festivals this year http://pitchfork.com/news/53076-outkast-announce-tour-of-over-40-festivals/
spudling
Outkast would be a good also Kraftwerk are playing 2 festivals in eastern Europe in July so they could be a possibility.
Uncle Liam
Also doing Sweden in early August. As I said on last years thread, if Sziget is a 'European' festival, then they need to book the consummate 'European' band.
payneruk
What's people's recommendations on things to do in Budapest before/after the festival?
payneruk
Also what have people put on their wish list (on the Sziget site)?
Uncle Liam
I've put in about six. Instead of Interpol, Mercury Rev, Manic Street Preachers, Foster the People, Nada Surf, Metronomy I'm totally expecting Feeder, Fun Lovin' Criminals, The Darkness and the other dregs of the late 90's early-mid 00's indie scene! callumdudee
It's going to be my first time at Sziget this year, cant wait. Did Download last year and had the time of my life, but cant justify spending 200 quid to see the 2014 line-up so decided Sziget seemed like a completely different and awesome choice. Really struggling to find any speculations on rumours etc on the internet. Couple of people saying Outkast, but doubt they would headline? Would really love to see Prodigy/Pendulum or similar band headline one night
Uncle Liam
You doubt that Outkast could headline? Even though they are headlining everywhere else and Sziget is a festival that had MIKA headline last year?
