Sziget 2014

We booked Sziget fairly last minute so really not to sure when bands were announced. I wouldn't expect much at all before the new year to be honest, but others on here are probably in a better position to comment on that?

I guess they will want a big name to be announced sooner rather than later to stir some interest up!

Once the new year arrives I would imagine a steady trickle of bands will be confirmed in the months leading up to the festival, You wont find out what bands are playing what days until a few weeks before the festival actually starts by which time the ticket prices will probably have increased and you'll be kicking yourself you didn't buy the tickets while they were on a early bird offer.

I imagine you'll get one name before the end of the year. That's what happened the last two years with The Stone Roses and Blur.

Anybody know what the 'VIP Camping' is like at Sziget? Not been to Sziget before, but it all sounds a bit non-stop. I'm getting old and need a bit of sleep if I'm going to make it through the whole thing! I'm thinking the VIP camping area might be an option?

You get access to a Swimming Pool and a cocktail bar.

There's a laundrette, storage facilities, Wi-Fi etc. And I think the tents may be set up for you.

I did think about it for next year, but I couldn't abandon my Dutch compadres!

Yeah, I read about the swimming pool and laundrette on the website. I did wonder if they set up tents for you, I know other festivals do that, but couldn't find a definite yes or know, for Sziget. Would be great if they did as it means I don't have to lug a tent over to Hungary!

Strongly considering going to Sziget next year alongside to the usual Glastonbury trip (depending on being bang on the resale!)

Couple of questions for you guys who have been before,

whats the night time scene like? a lot going on after the bands have finished? organised or people making their own fun?

Also from those who have done it what are the pros and cons of hotel vs tent, I would normally 100% push for tent but thought I'd get a view.

I felt this years festival felt more like a night time festival .It seemed like there were more people about at midnight than during the day probably had something to do with having less acts on the main stage .

I'm guessing that the first announcement will be something along the lines of Kings of Leon or Arctic Monkeys - neither of whom, on their own, would be enough to persuade me to buy a ticket. If they announced something like The Pixies, on the other hand, I might sit up and take note - can't see it somehow though, although I could be proved wrong ......

The Pixies would be great!! Looking at bands who may have albums out next year include Limp Biscuit, Blondie ,Ed Sheeran, Example , Metalica ,Lilly Allen , Iron Maiden , Judus Priest, Offspring, Soundgarden , No Doubt, Grouplove, Linkin Park , Elbow and The Strokes.

Well my ticket is booked.

I knew I was going to go. I had an amazing time this year so no reason not to go back.

It's impossible to predict who'll be playing. Though I'd like to see Arcade Fire play.

I'd love to go to this, but the timing of it sucks in August (and it's even later this year I believe)

The promo video from this years festival makes it look amazing, but probably end up back at Exit again.

Anyone know what the basis of Depeche Mode being in Sziget rumours is?

That video is epic, think I'm gonna give this festival a try seeing as I missed out on Glasto tickets.

I think Depeche Mode are just known (thought?) to be doing festivals next summer. I dont think they did many this time around, just their own stadium shows.

You should give it a try, there's lot of ways it can be improved, but Sziget is awesome.

I thought there were no plans after March for depeche mode?

Can anyone who's been to Sziget before tell me about the final day? So it runs from 11th to the 18th, does that mean you have to vacate the site on the 18th, or is the 18th the final full day of music and then you can sleep and roll out on the morning of the 19th?

It ends on the Sunday and you have to leave on the Monday.
