Burning Man

Yeah I can imagine it being a completely different experience to any U.K festival, even in terms of their alcohol policy etc. (Although apparently the Japanese love getting smashed on a regular basis)

A part of the reason why I want to do it is because I've always wanted to experience Japan. So if I do every have the money to go, then I would probably head to Japan for a week or so then head to the festival.

I'm allowed to dream!

I went this year - great festival. There was a fair amount of drinking going on amongst the locals and (as long as it's not instantly visible on the top of your bag) you can take your own booze in to some degree. Good variety of stages, beautiful location, nice little arts and crafts area, good range of food, friendly people and very decent after hours stuff.

The group i went with had been before, so took their own chairs and left them by the main stage (god forbid!) but unlike glastonbury it wasn't annoying. Chairs all arranged around the back and side but with gaps for people to go to the front where there was always plenty of space... but not sommuch that atmosphere lacked. People seemed to get there early , go crazy for a band they like and then back to their chair for a nap (impressive considering the noise) then repeat till around 4 or 5 am.

Weather isn't great but the soil seemed to soak it up better than glasto. Also very close to zero litter (and i'd bet the litter i saw was dropped by the few westerners). Once you find the very few western toilets they're pretty decent and with no queues (as they're barely used).

Overall very different to any european festival but it worked.

I'm pretty sure there is a time limit on their bans, if you haven't been done for a while you might get a visa.
