I'm pretty sure someone was selling a dodgy batch of pills at the Hardwell gig. That and Hardwell attracts loads of c**ts.

If they were wanting to really focus on promoting the new album, wouldnt Glasto be a better platform to do that? Could anyone see them being saturday night headliner? Wouldnt think it would fit in with older act that they are after but it could happen...Maybe next year?

I don't think the likes of Foo Fighters need Glasto to promote a new album and I imagine they'd tour the US before coming over here, so Glasto might be a little bit too soon for them to hit the UK. I think The Eagles/Elbow/Prince are all more likely for the last Glasto slot as well

Yeah so next year might be more realistic

Anyone think there is a chance of New Order? Maybe in one of the tents.

Every year I dream of New Order and Depeche Mode at the same festival and every year I am dissapointed.

I'd keep dreaming or check out another festival if I was you. If depeche mode are being touted as a glasto headliner they ain't going to take a lesser spot in a tent at V festival where nobody will have probably heard of them

I failed to get tickets for Glasto :-(

I will be devastated if they are on at Glasto. Will have to find a way to get in.

I meant New Order for a tent. They would be perfect as a last act in there.

Shows how poor music is at present when people are talking about Muse and Elbow as potential headliners yet no one has heard of New Order or Depeche Mode.

I saw them in Manchester last Novemeber so I getting a bit greedy really.

New Order will be out and out though I reckon. Best gig I have ever been to was last year when they were on at Jodrell Bank. Would love them to be on there again as it is a fantastic place for a gig but there is not much chance of that unfortunately.

I will be going V no matter what. Would be nice to have someone on who I really want to see.

The Human League are always good for V anyway :-)

The missus will be over the moon if the human league are on again

Best afternoon ever for me at V was the year before last when Human League, Pixie Lott and Happy Mondays were on one after each other in the tent. The killers seemed a massive anti climax on the main stage after that.

The Mondays would be good again in the tent. The Mondays and New Order now that is something to dream about.

I think DJ Fresh will be back at V again, but I think Miss Dynamite could be there as well and then come on to sing with DJ Fresh as they did a lot of the new album together.

Not exactly Depeche Mode and New Order but I think they are more realistic for V

I like Dj Fresh so him being on would be pretty good.

It is a pipe dream in regards to Depeche but you never know with New Order, I don't think anyone can predict Mr Sumners behaviour. Hooky and the light may be an option but he seems to not want to play the big New Order hits anymore and I would not want to listen to Joy Division stuff at a festival.

Hurts would be good, but they did not play last year when they were touring and had an album out so they would be doubtful this year.

I don't hold out much hope for the V fest line up being too great for my tastes this year but I will look on it positively and take the opportunity to give acts a listen to that I would not normally bother with.

  • 2 weeks later...

Complete guesswork:

Coldplay or Jay Z

Chase and Status

Lilly Allen

Justin Timberlake

Elbow

Ed Sheeran

FUCKING YES PLEASE. God damn. Althought that would require me to barely move from the V stage all weekend so maybe not.

The Mrs Carter Show 2014 already looks a damn sight better, got in there a year too early I think V.

We don't even know if V are giving themselves a more refined genre yet. And even if they did it's unlikely the whole festival would strictly subscribe to it. R&L is a rock festival but still has dance and chav music stages, for example.

Coldplay...??? They're playing this weird iTunes Festival spin-off in the US in a few weeks time. Had thought they'd be taking another year off touring given we've heard little about a new album but if they're playing gigs, and high-profile ones usually reserved for bands with something to push at that, then surely they're a possibility? They haven't played since 2003 for god's sake, they've done their best three albums since then, it has to happen sooner or later!!! Though then again personally I'd rather they wait until next year and do X&Y in full for the tenth anniversary..

Just randomly rewatching the 2012 Closing Ceremony and fuck me they're a good live band.

Is this finally the right time for them to step up to headlining status though? Because I can't see them subbing to the likes of Gaga or Timberlake. Coldplay though possibly.

Oh was you just chatting about headliners? I would imagine they would play half way down the bill.

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
