I thought you maybe meant at Glasto next year or something. If Coldplay and Mumfords are the headliners I dont care there The XX play I will be buying a ticket. They would maybe be too similar to headline at the same time though but it would sell good I think

I didn't know that, why is that the big headline slot, surely bands want to close the fest? like at Reading the big slot is the Sunday, obviously not at Leeds though

Not sure why it is the big headline spot and of course theres exceptions to the rule through scheduling.

Would Stevie wonder not be bigger than Muse in terms of Glasto? Muse played the saturday, and I think muse are better than Stevie but im usually outvoted on alot on matters such as that

Yeah you coukd be right, bowie played the sunday aswel if memory serves me right.

Like I said its only a suggestion.

And in 2007 The Who played Sunday. Maybe its down to who Eavis thinks is the bigger act whether they want to close or not. Looking back on past years, U2 opened and I would have said they were bigger than Coldplay and Beyonce (at the time)

Yeah Bowie played sunday in 2000

Hasnt rained today, bet Mick is kicking himself now :P no he wont care he wont remember being at glasto

If Mumfords play V then im here, so if XX are there two they have sold two tickets, only a few more to go

I thought the Phoenix would come out to close the show, and a fair bit ago I thought it would breathe fire, so I was close. Fire came out of its feet maybe??

Im praying they go to V too. They were great and I know anyone who says otherwise is just in denial and doesnt want to admit that they were wrong. I thought the closing song was good, I wasnt expecting so many extra people

yeah definitely, anyone who says it wasn;t good is just saying it because not liking mumfords is deemed 'cool' - especially on twitter it seems

I think if Mumfords do R&L then people will start to say its a bad booking because its cool not to like them as you just said. I want V to already have them lined up to play 2014 because after that performance their fee would have risen

for R&L something like..

Arctics

QOTSA

Mumford

Jack White

Metallica

30STM

would look incredibly strong, there's no way anyone could complain about Mumford (I'd complain about 30STM though)

Or for V

Mumford

Dizzee Rascal

Lady Gaga

P!nk?

Would look quite decent

I think for V, having Mumfords and Coldplay would be a big ticket seller but alot of people would complain about there not being a big pop/rock/indie band beginning with K. I would want Coldplay over Lady Gaga but I would have Gaga over Kasabian. I think if Mumfords dont headline next year it will be a bad choice unless Mumfords decide to take a year out

Have to say I was very sceptical of M&S pulling it off put they were truly sensational.

Me and my mates decided to sit high on a hill and watch it and overlooking Glasto as they closed the festival, well there was something very magical about it.

The Arctics were very good, was hammered for that one so in all honesty don't remember too much.

And the biggy, The Rolling Stones, well was certainly a you had to be there moment, 1 of the best things I have witnessed. I know people have said it wasn't good on the TV, but trust me its just not the same.

In summary V would be in safe hands if either M&S or the Arctics headlined.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
