Hey Guys,

Really hate posting this but need some help from ye to fill out a quick survey. I'm undertaking a masters degree in International Events and Festival Management and my topic for my dissertation, is based on the motivation and satisfaction of UK festival volunteers.

Please if you have a couple of minutes to spare, could you fill it out in relation to the last festival you volunteered at? All results are totally anonymous.

Here's the link to get started:

Thank you for your time and cooperation :)

*If you are going to fill it out, please take it seriously!

Sorry if posting this annoys people, just many members on this forum are the perfect representative sample for the survey. Apologies to anyone whom this annoys, I really do hate posting it but this is an important component within my dissertation.

never forget that:

the science graduate asks "why does it work?"

the engineering graduate asks "how does it work?"

the media graduate asks "do you want fries with that?"

I'm basing it on the Volunteer Functions Inventory (VFI) and The Volunteer Satisfaction Index, hence I have to use there questions. Some of which are not relevant to festival volunteers, however as advised by my supervisor I had to include them anyways and as you will see there is a not applicable option for you to choose. This is only a small component overall, I could have easily asked harder questions however survey questions are meant to be asked at a basic level, so everyone can understand and answer them!!

Thank you to everyone so far that has filled it out, really appreciate it :)

I won't be analyzing any results till the beginning of next month, as I am doing chapter 2 (Literature review) at the minute, as the dissertation isn't due till end of August.

Nonetheless,I will have no problem sharing the results on here, when the data is analyzed and interpreted, if people wish to see them? I understand that the forum has probably been saturated with questionnaires all year, so I really do appreciate people taking the time to fill them out. I have had to do so as well for many of my colleagues, so I know how annoying they are. On a previous occasion I have also been out on the street with a clipboard and seen first hand how annoyed people do get, however the majority were thankfully very receptive.

Just in response to Russycarps comment, we had to choose one form of primary research i.e. survey, interview, focus group. For my topic a survey was the most appropriate, as I am receiving information from a wide range of people as opposed to just a hand full from the other methods. Thus, gaining a wider perspective to the question in hand i.e. when analyzing it may be found that the 18-25 year olds find social factors are there biggest motives to volunteer, whilst for the 36-45 group it may be protective factors and so on. Furthermore, I am not a British citizen and have been studying in Edinburgh for just this year, and there education system from what I have experienced is second to none. So, I would kindly ask you not to judge my academic skills, as a masters degree is not an easy task of any sort, and I am extremely happy with where I stand so far with both my results and what I have learned about myself and the industry I wish to work within.

Thanks again guys, to those of you who filled it out :D

    • Sam Fender, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter is a very bland set of headliners. Commercially successful and makes plenty of sense, but it wouldn't be very inspirising. That said I want a band like Green Day to headline so who am I to say what exciting is.
