Abandoned tents...

Anyone seen this this morning? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/glastonbury/10095764/Glastonbury-tents-to-be-given-new-lease-of-life.html

Think it's a great idea to make use of the tents which are left unusable for their original purpose (and before the usual comments, yes, obviously it would be better if nothing was left behind in the first place!).

Looks like it could be good news.

Will be interesting to hear any feedback from Wychwood this weekend.

Wonder what they do with the poles and pegs etc.

I only hope that it doesnt encourage people to leave perfectly good and reusable tents behind.

Will put the wrapping paper on my Xmas list

My guess is Glasto won't want to publicise this in case it encourages people to leave tents.

They had a big problem a few years ago when it was announced they would recycle tents. They meant ones that had been packed up and taken to specific points in good condition, what happened is that people used it as an excuse to abandon tents after a particularly wet and muddy year.

I seem to remember it made the clean-up operation a lot more expensive and that's why they put a clear message in the Fine Guide now about "Leaving No Trace"

Are people really that stupid?

Actually, don't answer that....

Just pleased that someone has found a use for some of the crap that is left, and hope that people don't use it an excuse to be lazy.

i still think there should be like a designated corner or place in each field so that IF your lazy enough not to take there shit home then MAYBE just maybe they would drop there stuff in one bleeding place ...
