Siblin it's awesome you want to do this, and if I can help I will, I can easily be the token manager again, but I must say this the reason we haven't done it since 2010 is the absolute gargantuan effort that it takes to organise, the 2 years wiped me hogga and norainplease out it consumes your day to day life, thankfully my work was ok with me organising it at work, but I just can't take on that commitment again, please feel free to ask for advice, and I'll be there, to manage if required, and with help setting it up, I just can't commit to doing it to that level again, one of the best things about it was the amount we raised over the 2 years for wateraid, so I don't know,if this is what your looking at again, but it is really good to do, and sets it apart from just a kickaround, although that's what it is, it just gives it a focus for non footy living folk, they can get into the charity aspect, and of course the comical side of it helps.

Anyway I'm typing this very hungover after a works night out, so this is just me opening my mind and typing (and if honest prob still a little drunk) so come tomorrow or Monday I may be more enthusiastic,

So to summize I think if you want to do it brilliant, I am more than happy to give advice and "pass the baton on" to you, and I'm happy to be the manager again, I just can't commit to the level of organising that we done before

Here is how the original one came about

In 2008 I was boozy at the ciderbus and got speaking to this bloke from boro we got speaking about football and I suggested that we have a kick about on the thurs England v Scotland, I had a blow up Spider-Man football with me, drunken, this sounded an ace idea, obv it never happened but when I got home, on efests and found out it was hogga, and we had a bit of banter about Scotland chickened out etc.

So it grew from that, to be England v row as its more encompassing and then we added in the bands, and charity etc, it all started because of the efests ciderbus meet, and a random encounter, so the inaurgaral match was 2009, 1 year before any FIFA related garbage, 2010 they just happened to have there every 4 year tournament

I don't want to piss on your cornflakes, but maybe it would be better to look at organising this for 2014? Chazeboy said how long it took him and Hogga, and how much work it was for them, and that was over the course of two years. There's two months to organise this.

Will probably be keen to play for the Rest of the World team, I used to play as a junior but will get the skills back up before Glasto! Will be coming from Australia though, so won't have boots or anything with me, are just runners ok to wear?

If not, I'll come and watch/cheer for sure.

One thing I'll say is, try and email the fest, get permission, of some kind, as it makes it easier when the security folks say, erm what the hell are you doing, if you can produce an email, then ace, and doing it for charity helps.

Im more of a cigarette in one hand beer in the other kinda player but i can kick a ball. Sounds like great craic and would love to pitch in.

Id be a Rest of Worlder of the potato eating drunkard variety next door to you guys so if your still in need of Paul McGrath type inspirational player I would be delighted to play.

    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
