Stage Numbers / Access

Hi Everyone,

Complete festival newbie.

I've been to loads of concerts but this is my first festival. Can I ask what sort of numbers are allowed at the different stages and what's the best way to make sure you get to see the acts you want to?

Is it a case of finding the stage you want early and just staying put? What would you recommend for the Rolling Stones for example?

Great site by the way.

Thanks for the advice.

The only time I haven't been able to get where I wanted to see a band was Rolf Harris at Jazz/World. It was rammed, frighteningly so. Other than that the "secret" shows at The Park were dangerously rammed in some years. That aside, I think you can get pretty much anywhere if you set off early enough, Pyramid field is HUGE, I've seen it rammed but there was always some space somewhere. Some of the veterans will likely have a better view on it than me, but broadly time and preparation will see you right.

At the end of the day it's unlikely that you'll be locked out of anything you want to see. Most of the stage have more than enough space for the expected crowd numbers.

Compared to other major events, Glastonbury does very, very little active crowd control, as most of the time it's not needed. The most recent (and extreme) exception was Pulp last year who attracted a huge crowd to The Park causing access to be restricted - to be honest anything on that scale is unlikely to happen again because of the problems it caused.

If you want to see the Rolling Stones, then unless it's absolutely essential to you that you're in a specific spot, there's no need to turn up especially early. Arrive about 10 minutes before and there'll still be masses of space in the back half of the field.

As mentioned, the far bigger consideration is the amount of time it can take to move around the site, especially between bands on the major stages.

Hi, I just want to check the 'size' of a couple of the smaller stages - has anyone any idea how many can get into the Acoustic stage and the Avalon stage at maximum capacity? 10,000? 5,000? It would be helpful to know in advance. Thanks.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
