This is my 11th V and yes the overall direction of the festival and the demographic has definately changed over the years namely for two reasons... festivals need to ensure they have a 'full house' to maximise revenue and in the current economic climate the big pop bands/artists sell tickets to ensure this. Secondly, whereas Donnington used to have an indie day, it is now mostly metal. This meant a lot of the types of bands that did Leeds no longer do so they get a lot more indie bands, meaning less for V/TITP so they get pop bands. These festivals tend to cater for a niche - Its all about money and selling tickets. V has ultimately leaned more to the pop side in its recent years.

I don't like most of the acts there this year as I didnt last year but I'll have a top time as I always do. In a nutshell stop bitching and moaning and dont buy a ticket if you dont like it...stay home and do your geography homework in your bedroom whilst listening to that shite band NME recommended to you (and nobody knows about yet) but will ultimately slag off if they ever get an ounce of popularity.

This will bent 5th year so I think I can safely say I know what it's all about, also gives me experience to comment on how quiet things are surrounding this years festival. So open ending statement is warranted. Now get off your high horse

This is my first year going to a festival and I dont really have any complaints about the line up. Yes there are too many X factor acts but I wont be seeing them so they could have a stage full of them and I would just avoid it. As long as there arent too many big clashes I'll be happy enough

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
