Ah, sarcasm. :) I live in Pilton and just thought it would be fun for a few of us to do a song that anyone could sing on the bus/ train or sat in the car waiting to get into the site. We did it in 2 takes so its very rough. When I am in the queue to get in it would make my entire life if I heard someone else in the queue just sing it. Get a few mates together, have a couple of beers or glasses of wine and have a laugh! Meanwhile, myself and Macapaca will walk the festival fields every day (which we do, walking the dogs) and look forward to seeing it covered in huge marquee tents, yurts and teepees. The fence will start going up at the end of April I think........ Regards Grubersaberhagen

Grubersaberhagen at the Pyramid stage in a warmer time, it really is a huge structure. Today it is just so muddy down there now that the snow has melted.

Poor sheep! at least they have a decent view but the wind whips across that hillside - the stages are all behind me.

Same view as with the sheep but last August - I just caught the hot air balloon as it landed in the fields just across the A361, actually I think it dropped into one of 2011's car parking fields - very lucky to miss the power cables although I am sure that it wasn't as close as it looked.
If you would like the occasional snap of the Festival site progress as it grows, just let me know - I can always take photo's

p.s. how is learning the words to the song going? :)

It was so wet down there today, you can see the Pyramid Stage in the foreground with rivers around it. I look at it now and wonder how on earth it can ever dry out in just 5 months - but nature is a wonderful thing. Last year with the 'year off' there was loads of work done on the site - drainage, plumbing, roadways, all kinds of stuff - more to follow as it happens.....

Had a nice little trip down there earlier and it was indeed very wet. Sorry I didn't take tons of photos as I go quite often

And a final one of the monorail cars being stored for winter...

Great pictures! That Pink castle always makes me smile, often when the cattle are let out they are left in that field. I have been there a number of times and seen them actually walking through the castle, keeping out of the rain - I wonder if they've ever tried to go upstairs or use the slide :) Across the site, over in the Green Fields is that big ship climbing frame, very surreal to suddenly find that in the middle of nowhere. I'm told that this year there is official camping up the hill from the stone circle which is new and they've acquired the next farm out towards Pylle too, I don't know but the layout could well be skewed a little east as a result. Thanks outlinereality for singing the song, much appreciated. I was suffering from the winter blues last week so i decided to venture over to the vale of avalon for a little hope. I have a few places that seem to restore my calm and clarity when im feeling life's excrement.

The tor was so foggy walking up, i could hardly see infront of me, quite eriee but worth it. I was the only one up there for a while walking about and i suddenly heard music coming from inside the tower, it creeped me out at first but after investigating there was a lady sat inside playing the harmonica, the fog and wind made it the most acoustically beautiful thing i've heard.

After i walked around Glastonbury town i headed over to the festival site and had a wander, it was very wet underfoot. There was a fair bit of tractor activity over by the toilets next to the pyramid stage and there were a few men at work in the field behind the stone dragon & stone circle.

Anyhow, they are not great but i have a few pictures from my day...

Buff124, that's exactly what Simon Cowell said. Keziah, nice pictures, I'm glad that your trip to Ynys Wytryn recaharged your batteries a little - and you went over to the stone circle and the ship! All very soggy. That building with the red roof over by Goose Hall is the one that Michael called the 'Dufunny' I think. This time next week we will already be in February....... I was one of the Gate Stewards at Orchestra in a Field last year, I wonder if I checked you in? Sorry to be dim but where is the Strummer Stone? Ive not found that myself. Is it a particular stone at the circle? Regards Grubersaberhagen

Thanks for that Buff124, I will find that stone! I was press-ganged into the Stewarding by Shepton Rotary and spent the next few months politely declining invitations to lunch/join on a permanent basis (because I am fundamentally a grumpy misanthropic person :) - no actually I'm already involved in other local stuff and you need to draw the line somewhere ). Lots if locals are involved in Stewarding the Festival or 'observing' for one reason or another, I'm too selfish, I want the freedom to do what I want when I want etc. When the paperwork arrived yesterday for this years tickets one of the options was to have the cash equivalent rather than a ticket, I know quite a few villagers go that route but for me it's not an option and part of me thinks that is quite rude too - all the effort that the organisers go to, just to be 'snubbed'? Also, that costs money whilst letting us in doesn't incur any cost, but everyone is different. Yesterday there was a ton of activity around the Pyramid, tractors and trailers, JCB's, white transit vans....the standing water had retreated, I think that they have properly started preparing, the schedule of works have begun. Regards, Grubersaberhagen

Yes Pinhead, I am quite a newbie to the village, been here 4 years now. I heard terrible stories about the early days of the Festival but luckily that is all ancient history now (although people have long memories). Village security is awesome for weeks either side of the Festival, I think they do a fantastic job. Thanks for the kind comment Coma Girl. I will keep posting the odd pic as I see things of interest, today all of the sheep were moved onto fresh pasture as they have cropped the grass quite short - just want it to start properly drying up!
