I am kloot

I thought i'd bump this thread, being tired of reading all the headliner speculation and all ;). I made a compo of all my I am kloot faves and am playing it in work this morning before we start at 9am. Pure class! Love the new album by the way but some of their old stuff will get lost to the masses unless more people get to know them. Much like Elbow who made it to public recognition late in their careers and who's best stuff in my opinion has been lost to their new listeners, I am Kloots best stuff from the earlier albums is too. A shame really. I guess it's that old one of wanting a favourite band of yours to stay low key but also wanting success for them.

I've seen I am Kloot twice, once at the festival and the other at an outdoor gig, not seen them in an intimate enviroment, one to add to the to do list. I will see them at the fest this year though , mainly becuause i like the new album. They will get an hour and possibly might play the likes of Proof and Storm Warning or My Favorite sky, worth seeing again. I have seen Elbow three time now at the Apple store in Regent st when they released SSK, at The roundhouse and at the fest the last time. I reckon thats it for me with them, i only got into them after hearing LOFTFW, so i missed the earlier stuff. I am gutted that Guy can't sing Newborn or Powder Blue anymore, i think his voice is shot for those high notes.

I reckon elbow would play newborn again for sure as that used to be their "big hit", and I think they have played powder blue about 2 times in the last 4 years or so (according to setlist.fm), but as you say, I'd love to see guy try and hit that high note now

you're probably right about kloot. Proof will defo be played and I'd like to think you're right about from your favourite sky. Their 2nd album is defo my favourite I think. They do seem to be a band more likely to play from their back catalogue than elbow. I was quite shocked about how much elbow had turned their back on their old stuff when Iast saw them

Yeah if you listen to Asleep at the back it's an amazing album, i mean " Scattered black and Whites", whatever happened from that on a set list. A tragedy to loose IMO. I think I am Kloot are getting big enough and are friends of the festival to be granted a slot where they could play a longer set, though if that would lend itself to an outdoor stage i'm not so sure. I would like too see them possibly sub on the Park stage as it gets to dusk, would be good i reckon.

This is very true, try listening to Natural History or The John peel sessions, he liked them a lot. You can get them all on Spotify. The last two are very much more less... punchier if you will, though i disagree with the analagy i heard recently regarding them as lazy.
