Leonard Cohen?

He's got an incredibly strong back catalgoue.... which nobody other than his fans know.

So I'd agree - it's a massive stretch to have him headline. On the other hand he could be pretty high up - many who saw him in 2008 will realise that he can captivate an audience even when they know diddly-squat about him.

I know I mentioned this earlier - but Eavis is quoted as saying that Cohen in 08 was a performance the like of which he would never see again at Glastonbury.

My worry is that they take the position that another appearance could ruin a perfect first show. My hope is that they cater for people like me who like to suffocate themselves with repetition of things they like.

You see I agree with the view that says it was great, it won't be as good next time, for all sorts of reasons. Expectations will be higher, the memory of the last one will have been elevated. It has become 'legendary' and the reality is never going to measure up to it.

There's a certain beauty in things happening once and once only.

Sorry Vanderlyle

I disagree. Someone pulling off a triumphant set once shouldn't be a reason for them not to play again. Cohen's hardly the only person in recent years to have played a blinder - Ray Davies, Flaming Lips, Toots & the Maytals, etc. - the festival would be cutting it's nose off to spite its face if it adopted any sort of policy on it. Should they only have acts back again if they were nothing special first time around? Any ticket-holders worried it won't meet their expectations or exceed their memories of the last time have the option of being elsewhere.

well he's not going to be there at all, but I was really responding to people saying he isnt popular enough or has enough well known songs to headline. I think he is about the same as neil young in that respect.

And yes, alex is wondrous. The band now is flawless.

I must confess not only did I dislike Dino's music input, he came across as a bit of a tit too

I was over the moon when I heard he'd been retired from the band

More gigs announced and still a big Glastonbury shaped hole http://www.leonardcohen.com/us/tour/events?page=2).

I think they should push the boat out and have:

Thursday Night: Old Ideas acoustic performance at the Stone Circle

Friday Night: Special Guest Slot playing debut album, Songs of Leonard Cohen

Saturday Night: Headline Slot at Pyramid - Greatest Hits Set

Sunday Legend Slot: I'm Your Man - Musicians playing their favourite Cohen tunes (ft Jennifer Warnes, Rufus Wainright, Nick Cave)
